Phone Call. Note Card. Hug. Wave. Little things often make a big difference.
Have you noticed that you did something at some point in the past really not meaning to, but someone came up to you after and gave you a huge thank you? It came out of no where. Those small things make a big difference.
In the pastor month and in the coming month, here are somethings that seem small:
SERVoultion which was a 7 day period of simple acts of kindness our church and a few hundred others were part of. Learn more at www.servolution.org. (hope that becomes a way of life and not just a one time event)
"5 Days in May" is an event May 1-5 where people are asked to drink only water and send the money to water missions to help people who don't have clean drinking water. Learn more at www.5daysinmay.com/.
There are so many other small things that we do and ought to do throughout our days. One of the things we don't do, or at least I often fail to do, is look for the small things. How about that neighbor down the street or even your spouse or child? What can I do to encourage them or make their day brighter? Truly, little stuff --- big difference!
Which of these are we doing?
Romans 16:18 (nlt) --- Such people are not serving Christ our Lord; they are serving their own personal interests...
Philippians 2:3-4 (nlt) --- Don't be selfish; don't try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. 4 Don't look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.
