embarrassed BUT need to share

What I am sharing with you in today's devotion comes from my brother.  The picture is of Steve and his wife Susie.  Steve is a huge part of my life and ministry even through he lives over 1,000 mile from me.  One of the things that he says in what you will read below is that our vision at The Community Fellowship is big.  My heart is to lead people to demonstrate the love of God to our community and to do that with passion.  Please read below understanding that I want to lift up Jesus first and foremost.  It truly is not about me:

I realize this probably only goes to Michael but I hope that he will forward this note…the last month or so The Community Fellowship has really jumped out at me…I was recently with Michael & his family for three days in Virginia but it is more of what I see and hear happening in and around their community of Collinsville and Henry County Virginia…some great stuff…I recently listened to the series that he recently shared, Red White & You and was touched by the sharing of his heart for the community they serve…plus 46 folks as noted in the devotion below just retuned from a mission trip to Burnsville, WV to help Crossroads Church with their building that was in need of some major repairs…a few things that Michael shared while he was out there blessed me and you may not of seen them…here they are including some comments from others…

A couple of guys from Baton Rouge (among many others) have encouraged Michael and The Community, shared some thoughts as well…the one I liked best came from Dan Ohlerking who is on staff at Healing Place Church in Baton Rouge, LA…their pastor, Dino Rizzo, wrote the book that just came out "Servolution"…anyway Dan called Michael the servolution energizer bunny man (servolutionenergizerbunnyman) saying you just don't stop…thought that was funny but true…most importantly this isn't about 1 person, Michael…this is about a community of people, a gathering of believers who have joined together to make a difference in the lives of others…they are setting a great example for myself and others to see…

Then they turn around, get home, and have their back to school servolution for their community and the church is full (http://twitpic.com/bkb9e , http://twitpic.com/bkgom & http://twitpic.com/bkkwk ) …bottom line I sense the Lord is ready to do a tremendous work through The Community Fellowship…sure it takes a strong leader to cast vision and to get folks on board…from what I saw when I was there many had bought in, were committed and ready to be a part of serving strong…I venture to say from the events of the last 30 days that many more are going to catch the vision, be a part of blessing Henry County, and in return will be blessed beyond measure…

A couple of quotes Michael shared in one of his messages recently, week 3 of Red White & You…

"Whoever shows up the most in a person's life will win the battle of influence"

   And

"Reach the people nobody wants and you'll start seeing the people everybody wants"

These quotes came from Matthew Barnett who is on the front lines of ministering to the 'unfit' of society in Los Angeles…where there is great need and they are making a difference one person at a time…having big time impact in their neighborhood and community…the same thing can be done in my town and yours…I share all of this, as I said I believe the Lord is getting ready to use the folks at The Community Fellowship in amazing ways, He already has but it has only just begun…if you are a part of The Community Fellowship jump in and don't miss out on being the hands and feet of Jesus to a community and individuals who are desperately seeking hope and love…if you simply receive this daily devotion, commit to support their ministry in prayer and if led to do so in other ways with your time or dollars …do it!!...

Michael…I'm proud of you and The Community…there is one here who is in your corner with you in Oklahoma…I love you!

Henry County, Collinsville, The Community Fellowship…"hold onto your fork"…the best is yet to come…

You've blessed me!!

...Steve Harrison

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you

why is it Good Friday?

Holy Week is the time we focus on God and His gift of salvation.  We come to Friday.  The day we remember the cross, Jesus’ death and all God has done for you and me   Why do they call this day “Good Friday” because it doesn’t seems good?   Jesus was treated as a criminal.  He was beaten so much that He could not recognize Him.  His pain would have been too much for you or me to endure.  That is especially from Scripture I’ve read or as in the movie the  Passion of the Christ .   Yet it is a good day.  It is Good Friday because God had our good in His heart.  What Jesus did that day changed our forever direction. Here are some thoughts that come to me:   He is Redemption and Redeemer   He too our Pain and Punishment   He is our Righteousness and Reality   He is the Savior and Life   All of those happened from the cross.  It was meant for the worst lawbreakers.  It was not meant for a Savior who never broke a law.  It was lifted high so that onlookers could see the price Jesus.   Look

Day 8 in Cuba

We have just come off and incredible weekend, and it is day 8 of the mission trip in Cuba.  Thank you to all who have been praying for this trip, the mission team and the impact it will have on those we serve.   Please don’t stop praying. Last week Alex and I served with a mission team in the mountains of southern Cuba.  There were several challenges, but God gave us safety, provision and opportunity to serve some of the sweetest people I have ever met.  No running water… sporadic electricity generated by a small, logo dammed up river, no transportation other than animals, limited food sources and more.  These people love the Lord and sharing their faith with others. Over the weekend we made our way back to Havana.  On Friday our vehicle broke down leaving us on the side of the road for several hours.  We then boarded a bus and rode 14 hours.  We arrived safely and even got some rest. Sunday was so, so good.  We visited two partner churches.  In the morning we were with one church that
