embarrassed BUT need to share

What I am sharing with you in today's devotion comes from my brother.  The picture is of Steve and his wife Susie.  Steve is a huge part of my life and ministry even through he lives over 1,000 mile from me.  One of the things that he says in what you will read below is that our vision at The Community Fellowship is big.  My heart is to lead people to demonstrate the love of God to our community and to do that with passion.  Please read below understanding that I want to lift up Jesus first and foremost.  It truly is not about me:

I realize this probably only goes to Michael but I hope that he will forward this noteā€¦the last month or so The Community Fellowship has really jumped out at meā€¦I was recently with Michael & his family for three days in Virginia but it is more of what I see and hear happening in and around their community of Collinsville and Henry County Virginiaā€¦some great stuffā€¦I recently listened to the series that he recently shared, Red White & You and was touched by the sharing of his heart for the community they serveā€¦plus 46 folks as noted in the devotion below just retuned from a mission trip to Burnsville, WV to help Crossroads Church with their building that was in need of some major repairsā€¦a few things that Michael shared while he was out there blessed me and you may not of seen themā€¦here they are including some comments from othersā€¦

A couple of guys from Baton Rouge (among many others) have encouraged Michael and The Community, shared some thoughts as wellā€¦the one I liked best came from Dan Ohlerking who is on staff at Healing Place Church in Baton Rouge, LAā€¦their pastor, Dino Rizzo, wrote the book that just came out "Servolution"ā€¦anyway Dan called Michael the servolution energizer bunny man (servolutionenergizerbunnyman) saying you just don't stopā€¦thought that was funny but trueā€¦most importantly this isn't about 1 person, Michaelā€¦this is about a community of people, a gathering of believers who have joined together to make a difference in the lives of othersā€¦they are setting a great example for myself and others to seeā€¦

Then they turn around, get home, and have their back to school servolution for their community and the church is full (http://twitpic.com/bkb9e , http://twitpic.com/bkgom & http://twitpic.com/bkkwk ) ā€¦bottom line I sense the Lord is ready to do a tremendous work through The Community Fellowshipā€¦sure it takes a strong leader to cast vision and to get folks on boardā€¦from what I saw when I was there many had bought in, were committed and ready to be a part of serving strongā€¦I venture to say from the events of the last 30 days that many more are going to catch the vision, be a part of blessing Henry County, and in return will be blessed beyond measureā€¦

A couple of quotes Michael shared in one of his messages recently, week 3 of Red White & Youā€¦

"Whoever shows up the most in a person's life will win the battle of influence"

   And

"Reach the people nobody wants and you'll start seeing the people everybody wants"

These quotes came from Matthew Barnett who is on the front lines of ministering to the 'unfit' of society in Los Angelesā€¦where there is great need and they are making a difference one person at a timeā€¦having big time impact in their neighborhood and communityā€¦the same thing can be done in my town and yoursā€¦I share all of this, as I said I believe the Lord is getting ready to use the folks at The Community Fellowship in amazing ways, He already has but it has only just begunā€¦if you are a part of The Community Fellowship jump in and don't miss out on being the hands and feet of Jesus to a community and individuals who are desperately seeking hope and loveā€¦if you simply receive this daily devotion, commit to support their ministry in prayer and if led to do so in other ways with your time or dollars ā€¦do it!!...

Michaelā€¦I'm proud of you and The Communityā€¦there is one here who is in your corner with you in Oklahomaā€¦I love you!

Henry County, Collinsville, The Community Fellowshipā€¦"hold onto your fork"ā€¦the best is yet to comeā€¦

You've blessed me!!

...Steve Harrison

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciplesā€™ feet, drying them with the towel he had around himā€¦ 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each otherā€™s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
