who we connect with

Philippians 1:5 (nlt) --- for you have been my partners in spreading the Good News about Christ from the time you first heard it until now.

I am amazed at the partners that God gives us.  Some of them I see and know and even expect.  But there are others that I do not see nor do I expect.

The Apostle Paul said (in the verse above) that we have becoming partners in spreading the good news of Christ.  That is what it is all about.  For a leader to interact with or partner with ideas, situations and most of all people that are not going to build the kingdom is just flat out wrong.

Not this not about leaving people who don't know Jesus.  It is about making sure that what we are doing is guiding people to the kingdom.  God didn't save us, equip us and call us to wipe noses and to make people feel better.  But as one dude said and I love, God has called us to be "brokers of HOPE."  Nothing less.

But when we choose to spend our energy on things that will not build the kingdom, we are watching time, effort and resources.  Therefore, we must pray for wisdom and boldness.  Further, we nee to ask God for relationships, partnerships and people who we connect with that will point more folks in His direction.

Philippians 2:2 (nlt) --- Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose.

People, there has been way too much conflict for years among Christian people.  For way too long people have know what the church is against instead of knowing what we are for.  It is time to clarify our calling from God and be about His business.

Who we connect with is awesome.  Lately I have been blessed with friendships that have made me stronger and look closer as my leading but most of all to make me walk closer with Jesus.  I have seen God bring people to The Community Fellowship that are making this church stronger and more on task for demonstrating the love of God to our community and beyond.

Lets look for the connections.  Lets build those connects.  Lets make sure who we connect with is making a huge difference in the people we meet each day.  Pray with me, "God help me build others and be built by others so we all become more like Jesus.  Let us see those who we connect with as the real gifts that you have given.  In Jesus' name, Amen."

Proverbs 27:17 (nlt) --- As iron sharpens iron,  so a friend sharpens a friend.

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
