help with our next series

Proverbs 20:18 (NLT) --- Plans succeed through good counsel; don't go to war without wise advice.

Proverbs 4:7 (NLT) --- Getting wisdom is the wisest thing you can do!And whatever else you do, develop good judgment.

The Community Fellowship is gearing up for our next series.  We have seen God do some amazing things through the series we have been through together.  Remember the series 30 Days to Live that impact lots of lives around the church?  Remember the Chase the Lion series that taught us about taking risks and watching God work?  Each of these have brought some wisdom and insight our way.  Our next series will be much the same.

But we need your help.  The next series is Q --- questions about life and God.  What we are looking for is the basic stuff that goes through your mind on a regular basis.  It may be something you deal with when you are depressed.  It may be one of those questions that just keeps coming up.  My point is to hear and speak to the things that Christians deal with and that might draw none Christians to look at God.  Do you have any of those questions?  Send them to us.  Email them to questions@thecommunityfellowship.org as we are gathering questions now (these emails go to one of our church leaders who is compiling the questions; I will not know where they came from ... if that helps.  The series begins the first week of November.  It will be awesome.

Some of the things that seem to keep coming to my mind have to with some of these topics: doubt and faith, why bad things happen to good people, stuff that makes us grow closer to God, homosexuality, knowing and using spiritual gifts, dealing with divorce.  As a pastor, I hear from many people each week who are dealing with all kinds of situations.  You go through the same kind of things.  Share them with us.

Some of you took the challenge I offered you last week.  There were actually 2 challenges.  The first was to read Proverbs every day.  The second was to memorize Romans 12 with me.  Both of these have brought several new thoughts and questions my way.  I'm digging in and asking God to share some great things with our people as I think about the things people are asking.

Help us with our series.  Send us your questions.  Again that email address is questions@thecommunityfellowship.org.

Jeremiah 33:3 (NASB) --- Call to Me and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know.'

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
