the plan for 2010

Romans 15:13 (NLT) --- I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.

What are your plans for 2010?  No, I didn't ask about your resolutions because most of those will be broken before they start.  That is just a fact.  What are your hopes and dreams and deepest desires?  By the way, I have many and more are coming.

Marvin Gaye's song "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" says some of this for me ... There ain't no mountain high enough, Ain't no valley low enough, Ain't no river wide enough, To keep me from getting to you ...

There are some things you can't keep people from.  You have seen that and experienced it personally.  I have a drive inside of me to lead The Community Fellowship to touch more people for Jesus.  We have talked about a Dream Center type ministry in the middle of our county where hurting people can come for healing and to receive hope.  That hope begins in Jesus, but so often lives won't open until you begin to meet people's physical needs.  We've been doing that through our clothes closet and other SERVolution type activities along with ARK's (acts of random kindness), but in 2010 we are taking it to a new level.

On the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month we will begin feeding hungry people.  But our desire is not just to feed them physically because we want to feed them spiritually, too.  Our method is to begin relationships as people talk one on one and get to know one another.  As we find needs, we begin to meet them like linking people up with the things to meet their needs.  It could be a health condition, a need for services or one of hundred different things.  The Community won't be able to meet all those needs, but God can.  I believe that 2010 will also birth more opportunities for us to serve others (more than our clothes and feeding ministries).

Our desire and our deepest hope is to connect people to their dreams and to fill them with hope.  Look at the verse I began with.  Jesus is the source of hope, and He has filled us with that hope.  NOW it is time to overflow with that hope in meeting needs.  Each of those needs is attached to person, to a soul in need of God.  Many of these people will not know Jesus.  Some of them are already God's kids but need a jump start back to Jesus.  The plan for 2010 is to offer people hope.

Therefore, the ain't nothing gonna keep us from offering people hope and filling their dreams, no mountain or valley or river.  It is awesome to watch people catch the excitement of someone who is following Jesus.  With needs all around us and with the hope and love Jesus offers, lives will be changed.  And we chose to be a conduit of Jesus changing lives.

The plan for 2010 for us includes our theme which is Dreams Come True and is all about us getting more dreams from God and asking God to fill the dreams of others.  There is nothing greater, nothing more fulfilling, nothing any sweeter than helping people come to know God and the hope He has for each and every person.

What is your plan for 2010?

Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT) --- For I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope."

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you

why is it Good Friday?

Holy Week is the time we focus on God and His gift of salvation.  We come to Friday.  The day we remember the cross, Jesus’ death and all God has done for you and me   Why do they call this day “Good Friday” because it doesn’t seems good?   Jesus was treated as a criminal.  He was beaten so much that He could not recognize Him.  His pain would have been too much for you or me to endure.  That is especially from Scripture I’ve read or as in the movie the  Passion of the Christ .   Yet it is a good day.  It is Good Friday because God had our good in His heart.  What Jesus did that day changed our forever direction. Here are some thoughts that come to me:   He is Redemption and Redeemer   He too our Pain and Punishment   He is our Righteousness and Reality   He is the Savior and Life   All of those happened from the cross.  It was meant for the worst lawbreakers.  It was not meant for a Savior who never broke a law.  It was lifted high so that onlookers could see the price Jesus.   Look

Day 8 in Cuba

We have just come off and incredible weekend, and it is day 8 of the mission trip in Cuba.  Thank you to all who have been praying for this trip, the mission team and the impact it will have on those we serve.   Please don’t stop praying. Last week Alex and I served with a mission team in the mountains of southern Cuba.  There were several challenges, but God gave us safety, provision and opportunity to serve some of the sweetest people I have ever met.  No running water… sporadic electricity generated by a small, logo dammed up river, no transportation other than animals, limited food sources and more.  These people love the Lord and sharing their faith with others. Over the weekend we made our way back to Havana.  On Friday our vehicle broke down leaving us on the side of the road for several hours.  We then boarded a bus and rode 14 hours.  We arrived safely and even got some rest. Sunday was so, so good.  We visited two partner churches.  In the morning we were with one church that
