I have been reading through Proverbs daily for almost 15 years. I miss days from time to time. I even give it a break at times, but the past several months has been so good. God continues to reveal himself in sweet ways.
Often the writer talks about a lady that seeks a man out. As I was praying this morning and seeking the Lord, I had a thought. These verses apply to so many situations. Not only to lust and desire. They touch the things that touch us. From wrong motives to horrible attitudes. The things that we allow in our lives often times destroy us before we know it.
Here is a piece of this morning's reading:
Proverbs 7:25-27 (nlt) --- Don't let your hearts stray away toward her. Don't wander down her wayward path. For she has been the ruin of many; many men have been her victims. Her house is the road to the grave. Her bedroom is the den of death.
The "her" in this passage can be all kinds of things. Most of the time our sin, our habits, or our situations will get the best of us if we are not careful. These verses warn us to be ready, don't go that direction and realize that our choices can and will ruin us. It could even lead to death.
In your life, what is "her"? Is it lust? Is it your attitude or the way your respond to your family? It is the fact you have neglected God or what He has called you to? The "her" can not be avoided. We must hear from God and follow Him no matter what.
The wrong choice will ruin us. My prayer is that we will be ready, stay away from that direction and guard our choices. All the while that we would seek God above everything else!
