As I drove through parts of our town that I am rarely in yesterday, I began to pray for God to open my eyes to see what I have not seen and even to be able to dream the dreams that He has for me. What I saw was amazing.
I had just had lunch with one of our ladies who is passionate about helping the homeless and hurting. We also were with a man we recently met. Not long has he been out of prison. His mind is sharp, but this dude has had little hope. Not many people have poured hope into his life. It was awesome to celebrate with him about his new apartment that he is moving into today. Through The Community we are able to offer the hope of Jesus in tangible ways and see lives change. Like this man (pray for him).
Back to my prayer ... I remembered this:
Proverbs 29:18 (KJV) --- Where there is no vision, the people perish...
Without vision, people die. Without people offering the hope that only comes from knowing Jesus, people will have no hope and be left to the pain and heart ache of being alone. When we pick up the vision God has given us, we offer hope. We offer people life and not death. That is becoming more and more real to me. Do you see it?
Then I prayed something like this:
1 Chronicles 4:10 (NLT) --- He (Jabez) was the one who prayed to the God of Israel, "Oh, that you would bless me and expand my territory! Please be with me in all that I do, and keep me from all trouble and pain!" And God granted him his request.
I'm not Jabez, but I prayed his prayer. It was almost at that moment that a building was in front of my vehicle that a friend told me about. Not sure why and I am not sure what God is doing. But God is big and God is good. What I know is that we will share hope with hurting people and see life happen. We will see people take on the hope Jesus offers and through off the death that they have been clinging to.
Please pray that God would expand your territory. Pray He will give you more and more vision.
Vision equals hope for hurting people when Jesus is the giver of it. Therefore, I am asking God questions, and I'm thanking God for His vision in and through my life. I love it. Why don't you ask God some questions? Allow Him to give others hope as you seek Him!
