ask God for more

Today's thought is short but big.  Answer this: what have you asked God for lately?

Henry Blackaby said in his book Experiencing God that the reason people are not seeing God work is because they are not attempting things that only God can do.  That makes sense to me; how about you?

I found myself sitting in a meeting this morning that was bigger than I expected.  Only 4 people in the room, but the outcome make very well be something we have prayed for.  Not just what we prayed for but more.  Hearing others share what is on their hearts also has and continues to full my vision and the dreams that God has put in me.  It is awesome to say the least.

Sitting at that table I again asked God to fill our desire of a homeless shelter in our area.  I asked God to do more than that.  Simply put: we asked God to give people stories of life change as we allow God to work through us.

What you asking God for?

Wisdom, discernment or direction ....

James 1:5 (NLT) --- If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.

Doors to be open, people to be healed, lives to be changed ...

Luke 11:10 (NLT) --- For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.

Stuff bigger than you can think of ...

1 Chronicles 4:10 (NLT) --- Now Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, "Oh that You would bless me indeed and enlarge my border, and that Your hand might be with me, and that You would keep me from harm that it may not pain me!" And God granted him what he requested.

Remember this: God is bigger than you and than anything you come up against.  Remember this: God can do more than you can dream up on your own.  We need God's dream and we need to trust God.  Ask him to do more and to show Himself in big ways.  I'm ready.  Are you?

Ephesians 3:20 (NLT) --- Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
