Proverbs 29:18 (NLT) --- When people do not accept divine guidance, they run wild. But whoever obeys the law is joyful.
Why is it that people can't see? Much of the time there is a physical problem that can be corrected with eye glasses or maybe even surgery. There are other times when we, as humans, chose not to see. We look past things or overlook things Some people have closed their eyes to some things that they really can not see things or notice things.
When you talk in Spiritual terms, it is easy to understand that when we stop listening to God that we stop seeing what God wants us to see. Is that sin? Answer that one (if you answer no, you might want to rethink your answer). No accepting what God says leaves us in trouble.
The verse I began with says it pretty plain. When people don't listen to God, or divine guidance, they or we do our own think. Often our own thing ends up with us running in circles or running wild.
Proverbs 14:12 (NASB) --- There is a way which seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.
There is another verse that reminds us to open our eyes and see God as well as to open our ears and listen to Him. Our way will ultimately end up wrong, leads us to pain and even more trouble than we can imagine. That pain can even be eternal. But we see much of that pain in our lives each day when we avoid God or can't see God.
Revisit that first verse with me. "Whoever obeys the law is joyful." Does God say we must live by a set of rules? Does God try to so regulate our lives that we can't have fun or enjoy life? Neither of those is true. God desires our best and our success. By listening to God we will have more joy than we have ever had and have more successes and victories than we have thought possible.
Learn from what God says. Watch and follow Jesus' example. Can you see? There are great days ahead as we accept divine guidance!
