God speaks into our lives

The end of the rope, the bottom of the barrel, in the gutter, worthless, meaningless, empty ... many people who those phrases and terms to talk about their lives.  Or maybe you hear others use those every day.  The fact is, God wants to speak into our lives.

One of the things that pushes me to help others, those that are hurting, is when I see people who live as though they have no hope at all.  Life is full of junk.  Maybe they have experienced horrific struggles or conflict, and there is nothing left to live for.  God has something to say.  He wants to speak into our lives.

The wisest man to ever live was Solomon and here is what he said:

Ecclesiastes 1:2 (NLT) --- "Everything is meaningless," says the Teacher, "completely meaningless!"

When we come to that end, it is time to look to and listen to someone greater than us.  He is always up to something.  He is always working in our best interest.  Believe that.

Isaiah 43:19 (NLT) --- For I am about to do something new.  See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?  I will make a pathway through the wilderness.  I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.

It is time to speak into the lives of the people we meet who need hope.  What do I say?  That may be your question.  Lets pull this a part and make sure we have strength to share, hope to hold up, light to shine and all of that pointing to the only one who can make a difference ... Jesus.

Do the same thing Jesus did.  Scripture is the truth of God, the Word of God and passes on to others so that God speaks into our lives:

Hebrews 10:23 (NLT) --- Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.

2 Corinthians 3:4 (NLT) --- We are confident of all this because of our great trust in God through Christ.

Proverbs 3:5 (NLT) --- Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.

Acts 27:25 (NLT) --- So take courage! For I believe God. It will be just as he said.

God will use you to speak to others.  Let God speak through you.  Why?  God is speaking, and He will change minds, hearts and lives as He speaks into our lives.

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...
