faith & Jesus heals [+] Tuesday e-devotion

I've been reading through the gospel of Mark for the last week or so, and God has spoken in some phenomenal ways.  Chapter 5 was so good this morning as Jesus walked through several events of healing.

The man with demon with problems:

Mark 5:13 (NLT)
So Jesus gave them permission. The evil spirits came out of the man and entered the pigs, and the entire herd of 2,000 pigs plunged down the steep hillside into the lake and drowned in the water.

The lady with the blood problem:

Mark 5:34 (NLT)
And he said to her, "Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace. Your suffering is over."

Jarius' daughter who died:

Mark 5:42 (NLT)
And the girl, who was twelve years old, immediately stood up and walked around! They were overwhelmed and totally amazed.

All 3 healings were a response to faith.  A response to someone believing that Jesus is able to save and heal and share life with those in need.  Do we believe God?  Are we helping people seek Jesus?

The demon possessed guy was just in the right place.  the Bible says that he ran up to Jesus and fell on the ground pleading with Jesus.  The demons and the devil himself know who Jesus is and what he is capable of.  Jesus healed the man, and this guy went on to lead others to know Jesus.

The lady with the blood disease sought Jesus.  The crowd was huge but she made her way to be next to Jesus and touched his clothes.  She was healed at that moment.  She went to find Jesus.  She heard who He is and what he could do.  Jesus said her faith healed her.  She believed Jesus was able and something changed in her forever.

Jarius is much the same.  He heard of and even saw Jesus with his own eyes.  When his daughter was sick, Jarius went to Jesus.  I love this picture of a desperate father.  Are we desperate enough to get our kids to Jesus?  Be honest.  Are we praying healing over our kids when they are sick?  Our faith will transfer to the place where our kids begin to have faith.

I want to have faith that works, that believes God, that sees lives change because I believe what Jesus can and will do.  How about you?  Jesus is still in the business of changing lives.  He is still changing me, and I need it.  Step out in faith.  Believe Jesus!

James 2:23 (NLT)
And so it happened just as the Scriptures say: "Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith." He was even called the friend of God.

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
