I've waited for this day [visiting the Los Angeles Dream Center]

To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak; I have become all things to all men, so that I may by all means save some.

More than 2 years ago a ministry in Los Angeles caught my attention as I began to learn about their pastor and his heart to touch hurting in his community.  Matthew Barnett is a young pastor making a large mark on his community.  The Los Angeles Dream Center is that ministry and has been duplicating itself around the country and the world.

When The Community Fellowship began, it was evident that God infused us with His vision to demonstrate the love of God to our community so we would get the attention of people and tell them about Jesus.  We began do that 3 years and 8 months ago and have continued through sharing clothes, food and ARK's (acts of random kindness) without strings attached.  God has used this here in Collinsville, Virginia and Henry County.

I can't wait to see how God brings about our vision of The Community Dream Center right in our community.  It is a reality with the ministries we are already part of, but more pieces of that are going to come together in the months and years to come.  I can't wait.

5 of our team members leave Wednesday morning for Los Angeles to learn, share, serve and to put feet to our dreams.  We will be of ministry to the homeless, hurting and hungry at The Dream Center.  We will have meetings where we will talk through our call and seek how we can do more with the resources we already have.

I have waited for the day I would get to visit this ministry.  In fact, one of the things that I love to do is to learn from those that are following Jesus and seeing God move.  That is happening in lots of places, and the Los Angeles Dream Center is just one of those places.  Are you ready to see and hear?

Will you pray for this?  We are and have been.  Follow my thoughts and learning at my blog www.e-devotion.blogspot.com where my Twitter feed will keep you up to date and I will be posting pictures, big ideas and more.  I look so forward to what God is doing.

See that verse above?  It is my heart.  My question is: how can we reach more people who need to Jesus and who is no one else in our community going to touch?  Are we willing to act upon what we learn?  Our faith in Jesus as our savior, Lord, friend, healer and more has changed my life and yours.  That faith must be given away to others.  Hearing from God, acting upon what God says and sharing with the people we meet makes the dream center a reality.  Lets meet needs and share Jesus...

Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself.

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
