3 Week Prayer Challenge

Will you join The Community leadership team and family in our prayer challenge?  It goes through Monday, December 6th as we seek God for wisdom, open doors and changed lives.  This is tied to the beginning of some new work and The Community Dream Center is coming our way soon.  Again, will you pray?

This began as our leadership team was talking about all the blessings we have seen from God and the direction that He is taking us.  Let me give you a bit of guidance as we pray today.

Ask for direction ...

Proverbs 16:9 NLT
We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.

Psalm 37:23 NLT
The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.

Ask for wisdom ...

James 1:5 NLT
If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.

Colossians 1:9 NLT
So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding.

Ask God to change lives ...

2 Corinthians 5:17 NLT
This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!

Colossians 1:6 NLT
This same Good News that came to you is going out all over the world. It is bearing fruit everywhere by changing lives, just as it changed your lives from the day you first heard and understood the truth about God's wonderful grace.

Ask for greater opportunity to serve ...

1 Chronicles 4:10 NLT
He (Jabez) was the one who prayed to the God of Israel, "Oh, that you would bless me and expand my territory! Please be with me in all that I do, and keep me from all trouble and pain!" And God granted him his request.

Isaiah 54:2 NLT
Enlarge your house; build an addition.  Spread out your home, and spare no expense!  For you will soon be bursting at the seams. Your descendants will occupy other nations and resettle the ruined cities.

Father, we come to you begging that this time will draw us so much closer to you and give the resources to touch more and more lives for you.  Please remove our own will and influence and replace it with you and your direction.  Thank you for wisdom and direction.  Thank you for the lives you will change through the opportunities you provide and the doors you will open for us.  Please expand our influence so more people will know you and find their dreams rebuilt by your grace.  Thank you for each person who have committed to this time of pray.  We look forward to all you are going to do!  In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
