dream BIG

Have you ever been intimidated by anything?  I have.  Lots of things throughout my life have been a bit tough to handle.  I could name them, but lets move on.  There are times that living by faith is a bit intimidating.  Following God is the right thing to do, yet taking the steps needed may seem a bit out there.

I'm continue to study and preach through the book of Nehemiah.  Each week I have become more and more convinced that God must have been all over this situation and the people that Nehemiah led.  In fact in chapter 3 we learn that there were at least 40 work crews helping with the rebuilding of the wall and the gates.  That took lots of organization.

Those 40 groups were made up of people from every walk of life.  Look through the chapter and you will find some of these people: priests and temple workers, families, business owners and merchants, people from other villages, and more.  What an awesome move this had to have been.

Nehemiah had to dream big.  It was much bigger than anyone would have imagined.  Maybe God has some of big dreams that He wants to give you.  Think about that!

What would you attempt if you knew you could not fail?

If resources were no issue (money or anything else), what is the biggest task you would want to take part in?

Answering those questions intimidates me, but it also makes me dream bigger.  I believe that God wants to use Him people to dream big so that he can use us in big ways to impact others for Him.  It is all for His glory, not ours.

Nehemiah 1:4 NIV
When I heard these things, I sat down and wept. For some days I mourned and fasted and prayed before the God of heaven.

Nehemiah 2:18 NLT
Then I told them about how the gracious hand of God had been on me, and about my conversation with the king. They replied at once, "Yes, let's rebuild the wall!" So they began the good work.

Ephesians 3:20 NLT
Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask orthink.

Dream big!  What God calls you to be part of may changes the lives of thousands of people.  How is that?  We serve a big God!

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
