the right answer

We don't always know the right answer to give.  In fact, far too often the right words just escape from me.  God is always speaking, and we as His children need to be listening.  As I think about hearing God there is no special place to go or thing to God to be able to hear.  We simply need to listen.

The Bible tells us to be still and listen.  We are told to follow God and listen.  It makes a difference when we deal with sin and trouble so that we can hear God.  Those things are true.  Yet at other times we simply need to listen.

Isaiah said:

Isaiah 6:8 NLT
Then I heard the Lord asking, "Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?" I said, "Here I am. Send me."

Isaiah heard and responded to God.  Big things happened after Isaiah listened.

Samuel said:

1 Samuel 3:10 NLT
And the Lord came and called as before, "Samuel! Samuel!"And Samuel replied, "Speak, your servant is listening."

This kid, Samuel, thought someone else was calling when it was the voice of God.  After Samuel listened, God began to use this kid to do great things.

One of my favorite stories in the Old Testament is about the 3 boys wouldn't follow the king and were thrown into the fire for it.  Shadrach, Meshach and Abedego had some nerve not to listen to the king.  But they were set.  They had heard from God.  They did what God said, and because of their choice to do what God said an entire nation heard from God.  Here is what the King said after God saved the 3 dudes from the fire.

Daniel 3:28 NLT
Then Nebuchadnezzar said, "Praise to the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego! He sent his angel to rescue his servants who trusted in him. They defied the king's command and were willing to die rather than serve or worship any god except their own God.

It is time that you and I say similar words to word others have said.  It is the right answer.  Samuel said he was ready to listen.  Isaiah said he heard and he was ready to respond.  We simply need to give the right answer, "I'm ready to listen and I will do what you say, God."

That isn't easy, but big change will happen and blessings will come when give God the right answer.  Now it's your turn!

Jesus said:

John 12:26 NLT
Anyone who wants to be my disciple must follow me, because my servants must be where I am. And the Father will honor anyone who serves me.

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
