lead with courage

It takes courage to lead.  Some people are natural born leaders or have the ability to persuade people.  Many of us have a call from God on our lives to lead people.  All of us are called to tell others about Jesus with the way we live.  We are to lead people for a cause bigger and more important than any personal agenda or desire.  It is for God's kingdom and to take more people with us into exciting life and eternity in heaven.

It takes courage.  As I prepare for a retreat with our leadership team tonight and tomorrow, these are some of the verses that I have spent some time with:

Ecclesiastes 7:19 nlt
One wise person is stronger than ten leading citizens of a town!

Joshua 1:6 nlt
Be strong and courageous, for you are the one who will lead these people to possess all the land I swore to their ancestors I would give them.

Hebrews 6:19 nlt
This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God's inner sanctuary.

If we walk with God, we will be wise.  If we follow God, we will be people of courage and strength leading people to what God has for them.  We will have hope and offer hope to others all because that is His plan.  It is not our plan unless God has changed our lives.

My prayer is that we will lose our heart to the heart of God, and that we will gain courage to do things we wouldn't do on our own.  Leading takes courage.  Leading isn't for cowards. Lead others to see God through your life!  Lead with courage.

wash feet, sharing hope

  John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
