I have a heart for hurting people. In fact, almost four years ago our church began with our marching as "demonstrating the love of God to our community" through acts of kindness with no strings attached. We have been given opportunity after opportunity to help people. The hurting, hungry and homeless people we meet don't just have needs, each person needs the hope that only God can given.
Friday morning I couldn't turn the news off as reports from Japan flooded in and warnings coming toward Hawaii and the west coast of the United States. Our county was spared for the most part, but there are thousands of hurting people in Japan. What can we do to help?
We can and must pray. Intercede, pray for those in need.
I am suffering and in pain. Rescue me, OGod, by your saving power.
We also pray that you will be strengthened with all his glorious power so you will have all the endurance and patience you need. May you be filled with joy,
Meet needs. Give and even go to help those in need if you can.
If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion—how can God's love be in that person?
Share with others. Pray together. Help because we are stronger when we work together. We can help more people when we work together.
So be strong and courageous, all you who put your hope in the Lord!
Pray for those in need. Reach out to those in need. Make a difference in the lives of the people you meet.
Pray for the people of Japan. Those who have lost loved ones and whose lives are turned upside. Many, many lives will never be same because of the events that took place last Friday. God can heal all wounds. Pray that rescue and relief workers are strengthened and given the resources to help more people. Ask that the Christians serving will be heard and peace will come through the power only God can give.
