As I sat across the table from this gentle man, I realized we were in the presence of a giant. He had driven a couple hours just to meet me and some friends for lunch before we left town. His words were so pointed and the fact that this guy had heard from God were incredible. Some of my friends said that our trip was worth it if we only had that one hour with this man.
His name is Emilio Cervantes. Emilio is a business man that attends Matthew Barnett's Angelus Temple and volunteers at the Los Angeles Dream Center. Today I am not writing to tell you about Emilio but about the light this dude turned on for me and what I have seen since. Here is a Scripture Emilio shared:
That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him."
I heard that verse on that day and a couple days before. A few weeks later I heard the verse again, but it was not until the events of last week that I began to see the light turn on. Just what God does is incredible. Like Ephesians 3:20 what God does is more than we can dream up on our own. Like Jeremiah 29:11 what God does is for our success as we follow Him. Like John 10:10 what God does is provide the abundance and incredible life to those who take on what God has for us.
That verse turned on the light for me. I've been watching God work. We have seen God open doors, touch lives, give insight, move mountains, answer prayers and give in big ways. I cannot wait to share some more of the things God has done to push us to the opening of The Community Dream Center. This is incredible. We ain't seen nothing yet!
The rest of 1 Corinthians 2 allows us to see more of what God does. Here are a few of the statements that caught my attention:
verse 2: For I decided that while I was with you I would forget everything except Jesus Christ, the one who was crucified.
verse 7: No, the wisdom we speak of is the mystery of God—his plan that was previously hidden, even though he made it for our ultimate glory before the world began.
See verse 9 above
verse 10: But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God's deep secrets.
There is so much more. But let me just point in the direction of what God does. We must stop saying that God works this way or that way and just watch Him work and believe Him for greater things. He reveals to His children the deep secrets that few people really understand. It is time that we decide to set everything else aside and allow God to do what God does.
Set aside my personal agenda. Set aside my feelings. Set aside my prejudices and selfish concerns. Set those aside and trust God. What will happen then will be the door opening, the light turned on, the prayer answered and God's kingdom growing as well as His kids being blessed. All that happens because of what God does.
No eye has seen. No ear has heard. No mind has imagined. What God does is gonna happen, and we can be ready to experience and see incredible things. Are you?
