Psalm 46:10 NLT
"Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world."
You are not expecting this, I'm sure. But I'm pulling the plug. I'm disconnecting. No blog. No twitter. No Facebook. No email or text messages. I'm unplugging from them all.
Just so you don't go into cardiac arrest now from this information, let me put you at ease that I'm only unplugging for the next 5 days. From noon Monday, May 9th through Friday evening, May 13th I won't be posting or sharing anything.
Some people have already starting taking bets that I can't make it. Well, that could be a bet you might lose on the average time, but I'm putting it down and stepping up. And I ask for your prayers.
God is so good. His blessings have been huge lately. There is no turning back. I'm asking God for time to refresh His calling on my life and the vision He has placed in my heart. Know what? I'm excited about the challenge. I'm even more excited about how this is going to take place.
My wife and I will leave town and head for the mountains. We've been blessed by a ministry called SHOR to get away.
I'll be focusing my attention on three areas:
2. My wife
The verse I began with today came alive to be when I was on a retreat somewhere in Arkansas when I was a teenager. It got stronger when. Moved to Georgia and a friend allowed me to spend evenings sitting near the pond on his farm. In those and other settings, God came to life in a fresh way. Those have been defining times. My relationship with God is worth setting all aside for time with Him.
I need a fresh time with God. This week I pray that will happen. The Community Fellowship is an incredible church with a huge mission ahead of us to demonstrate the love of God to our community through getting the attention of our community and sharing Jesus with every person we can. The Community Dream Center is becoming a reality and is charged with reBuilding the dreams of broken people because there is hope and life in Jesus my family is a gift from God that I'm humbled to have. All three deserve the best leader and strongest vision we can possibly have.
Therefore, I'm unplugging. If you need something, call the church. Our folks would be honored to serve and pray with you. Julie and I will return Friday. This is going to be hard. But this is going to be good.
I want to leave you with a word God gave me yesterday. This word means that I'm not backing up and that the church I lead as well as the Dream Center we are working on will be moving forward in stronger ways. What I believe if God wants to strengthen us as we focus on Him and serve others as we are and in even greater ways. Here is what I heard God say:
Hebrews 12:12 NLT
So take a new grip with your tired hands and strengthen your weak knees.
I'll catch ya later. Thanks for your prayers. As Chris Tomlin's song says "Greater things are still to come..."
