what's your story?

I love listening to people tell stories.  Many times it is their story of what life has brought their way.  Other times it is the story of someone we have met and learned from.  But stories go a long way.

From history we learn that the things people have learned from the beginning of time have been handed down through telling stories, even when there is not a written language (speaking of years ago or even of people far from us today).  We need to share stories.

The power of God can come to life through the power of stories.  God has impacted my life and many of your lives.  What God has done in you and through you is not only credible, but those stories have powerful potential of touching countless lives.  Who needs to hear your story today?

Some stories make you laugh.  Some make you cry.  Others make you stop and think.

There are some awesome people that I have met through the years that have a gift of telling stories.  One was a pastor.  That dude, Joe Brooks, could speak for hours and hold my attention.  A couple others that I think of can tell stories and in a short period of time unpack a powerful stories.

I just want ask each of us to stop and think through our story.  Would you be able to share your story with someone you come in contact with?  Maybe this is a person you know.  Maybe it is someone you meet in the store or somewhere.  Take some time.  Think through it.  Make some notes.  Begin to tell your story.  Make it strong.

Matthew 28:15 NASB
And they took the money and did as they had been instructed; and this story was widely spread among the Jews, and is to this day.

2 Timothy 1:8 NLT
So never be ashamed to tell others about our Lord. And don't be ashamed of me, either, even though I'm in prison for him. With the strength God gives you, be ready to suffer with me for the sake of the Good News.

Acts 9:42 NLT
The news spread through the whole town, and many believed in the Lord.

Acts 4:20 NLT
We cannot stop telling about everything we have seen and heard.

Your strong stories will impact many lives.  Don't sell yourself short.  Maximize your time to share with others what God has done in your life!

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
