increase our faith

Hebrews 11:6 NLT
And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.

Have you ever been shaken where you asked if you had faith or if you had enough faith?  Most of us have been there.  That is a tough point.  Earlier this week I shared about the message I preached Sunday where Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego made plans before their faith was tested to follow God.  Have you done that?

Allowing God to increase our faith is something we are in need of.  Some of us are in desperate need.  When God does increase our faith, awesome things will happen.  God will show up as he did for those 3 guys.

Early Monday morning this week I spent some time with one of our church leaders and spent an extended time with God.  The Scripture was so good and so insightful from a place in the Bible that I have rarely been to (God often talks in places we don't expect).  The sharing was good too as we talked about our church and the strength we need for the future.  After that I found myself in the drive thru line at a local restaurant picking up breakfast for my family.  God spoke again.  This time was in a song.

Chris Tomlin is a great worship leader and concert artist, and one of his new songs, "I Lift My Hands", has caught my attention several times.  But here was a bit different reference and word from God.  The words were "let faith arise".  I was caught in a place where I have been many times.  It is a place I am familiar with and love to go to.  It is where God speaks, and I hear Him clearly.  Yet there is little said.  It is a place of worship.  Worship will increase our faith.  Here is part of Tomlin's song:

"I Lift My Hands" by Chris Tomlin

Be still, there is a healer
His love is deeper than the sea
His mercy, it is unfailing
His arms are fortress for the weak

Let faith arise
Let faith arise

I lift my hands to believe again
You are my refuge, You are my strength
As I pour out my heart
These things, I remember
You are faithful, God, forever

Be still, there is a river
That flows from Calvary's tree
A fountain for the thirsty
Pure grace that washes over me

Let faith arise
Let faith arise

I lift my hands to believe again
You are my refuge, You are my strength
As I pour out my heart
These things, I remember
You are faithful, God, forever

I lift my hands to believe again
You are my refuge, You are my strength
As I pour out my heart
These things, I remember
You are faithful, God, forever

Let faith arise.  Let what God says and how He works in your life take you to a place where all your faith in God can do is rise.  It is where you end up, with no control of your own, worshipping God and being so thankful for who He is in your life.

This song is powerful.  Read the words.  Find the song.  Let God work in your life, and let God increase our faith.  We will never ever be the same.  That means we will follow closer to Him, love Him more and serve others with far more passion.  All because we allowed our faith to rise and asked God to increase our faith!

where they strengthened the believers. They encouraged them to continue in the faith, reminding them that we must suffer many hardships to enter the Kingdom of God.

So take a new grip with your tired hands and strengthen your weak knees.

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
