partnering makes life sweeter

Partnering makes life sweeter.  That is a fact.  In the past few weeks I have seen this and experienced it first hand.  When we find like minded, servant hearted, gracious spirited friends, we are all able to accomplish much more as partners.  Have you found this to be true?

Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works.

Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed.

I tore open an envelope of a letter mailed to the church this week knowing it was from one of our back2school partner organizations.  It was for double the amount I expected.  They helped us help more students.

Walking in the door last Saturday was a hispanic man I met only a few weeks ago.  His kids were registered for back2school.  But this gracious dude from Mexico brought a friend with him and both stayed several hours after their families left.  They worked as translators.

Today there were many senior saints through our doors as a couple local organizations held a health fair in our building.  It was an honor to serve these people form our community in a way we normally can't.  Only happened because some people and organizations partnered to help others.

Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves;

Stop asking the wrong question.  Stop asking what do I get out of doing this thing or going to that place.  And start asking how can I help others.  When we help others, we will ultimately get help ourselves.

I could take a few minutes and talk to you about the ungrateful and callus people I have talked to the last few weeks, or I could tell you about the wins and successes, the hugs and the smiles, the high fives and the at-a-boys that I have experienced.  They are incredible.

Last night I was chatting via FaceBook with one of our volunteers.  She had found one of the boys whose feet she had washed last Saturday at back2school.  This special lady is going to be helping this young boy's family even more.  She is stepping up to serve.  She is partnering with us and with that family.  I love it.

Who can you and who can I partner with to make a difference in the lives of the people we meet?  Maybe it is my church.  Maybe is a local organization.  Maybe it is an organization across town or thousands of miles away.  Find some people who share your passion and partner with them.  As you lock arms with other people, more people will see that there is hope and strength when we do things together.  You've got to know it.

Partnering makes life sweeter!!!

PS ---- I am grateful for all the people who have partnered with me and our church.  Together we are seeing lives changed!!!

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

  John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
