I love this

I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.

This week there have been some times that have left me more excited about what our church is part of and the fact that our Dream Center is becoming a reality.  Be careful that you make the most important things important to you.

It began with Matt sharing his testimony last Sunday.  He is a part of our Dream Center discipleship program.  What Matt shared was powerful, grounded in the Bible and spoke to the fact that God changes our lives.  He said that reading the Bible has been a great part of his journey and God changing his life.

I walked into the kitchen at church yesterday morning and heard a conversation about our disciple’s Bible study.  It was deep.  Lots of questions.  I love this, and it burns deep in my heart to help people fall in love with God and allow Him and His word to change our lives.

I love this.  God’s word continues to change my life as I point myself and my life toward it.  The Bible is not just a book on the shelf at our house or on the table.  The Bible is to be part of our every day life.  Allow God’s word to hit you, speak to you, run through your mind and heart.  Things will change.  You will change as I have.

Last night at dinner one of our youth from church shared about the conversation from our youth group Bible study the night before.  Once again I heard about some people digging in to God’s word and learning.

God has called us to make disciples as we serve others.  The term “fully devoted followers” is something I think about often.  If our church is not leading people to really follow Jesus, we are missing what God called us to do.  How do we know that we are strong?  How do we know that we are doing what God called us to do?

for now we really live, if you stand firm in the Lord.

We stand stronger when others stand with God and when we stand with God.  I love this.  I love to see people follow God.  The Bible is an important part.  May God help us make His word an important part of our every day life.

I leave you with a link to the online Bible I use on my phone and computer.  www.youversion.com is the greatest place I have found to spend time in the word and to do it often.  I use the daily readings to keep myself plugged in.  I love this!

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...
