the piece you might be missing

James 1:5
NLT
If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.

Every one of us has a story to tell.  We’ve experienced life and all kinds of things along the way, and one of the things that God has brought to my mind today is the fact that we are blessed when we experience the grace of God.  Would you agree?

In my work, I talk with many people, hear about lots of life experiences and stories, but I feel the need to confess that I talk to lots of people who need a big dose of God’s wisdom.  Please understand what I am saying.  We all need God’s wisdom, yet there are people we all know that seem to be a million miles away from God’s truth and His wisdom.

The choices people make confess a need for wisdom.  The consequences people cry over mark the fact of needing wisdom.  The lack of wisdom is evident and almost screaming at those who look on.  But why do people not see this fact?

I want to pass on God’s wisdom to people.  Understand that God’s wisdom doesn’t come from people.  It comes from God and nowhere else.  He offers His wisdom to anyone who asks and who seeks God.

Let me give you a short look at what God says about the wisdom we need…

What is wisdom like?

James 3:17
NLT
But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere.

What is the opposite of God’s wisdom?

“You felt secure in your wickedness. ‘No one sees me,’ you said. But your ‘wisdom’ and ‘knowledge’ have led you astray, and you said, ‘I am the only one, and there is no other.’

How do we get God’s wisdom?

Fear of the LORD teaches wisdom; humility precedes honor.

Fear of the LORD is the foundation of true knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.

Job 12:13
NLT
But true wisdom and power are found in God; counsel and understanding are his.

I pray that we seek God’s wisdom and long for His truth.  There is nothing like it, and nothing will help us more to experience life and to gain great and godly stories in our lives.

The piece that you might be missing is the wisdom of God!

Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts.

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
