I'm out there somewhere

Talk is cheap, like daydreams and other useless activities. Fear God instead.

‘In the last days,’ God says, ‘I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams.

There are people who accuse me of being out there somewhere.  This is usually the person who has heard my dreams or who has watched what our church does.  In fact, I love to share the direction that God has given our church and me.

It happened again today.  No, the comment wasn’t directed totally toward me.  It was a video made after he watched another video.  I was a bit put off by the guys remarks.

Yet I understand that if we do what God has called us to do we will seem radical.  Lots of people through the last 5 years have asked why we serve all these people or do the kind things we do.  The answer is pretty simple.  We are doing what we believe God called us to do.  That means we cannot be normal or nominal.

In fact what most people see as normal Christianity or following Jesus is nominal or minimal and almost non-existent Christianity.  My prayer is that we will see people as God sees them, and God offers people grace over and over and over and over again.  We ought to do the same thing.  I didn’t say let people step on you. I didn’t say let people steal from you.  I did say that we can offer people real grace in the way we respond to and love them in the name of Jesus.

So, if someone says I’m out there somewhere because of what Jesus said to do, I am ok with that.  Are you?  Some may say I have a problem.  Others may even accuse us of being way off base.  But I will be erring on the side of grace over and over and over again.

May God use us to be radically different so that people will meet our God who is radically different as well.  I don’t mind being out there somewhere as long as I can reach others who are out there somewhere.  Does that make sense to you?  It does to me!

men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

(men of whom the world was not worthy), wandering in deserts and mountains and caves and holes in the ground.

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
