silence the lies

We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.

When we believe lies, our lives begin to be destroyed.  This could be anything from the seemingly insignificant thought that says you are no good or the person who continues to cut you down making you believe you have no value.

I’ve talked with several people this week who are buying, believing, and bowing to some of the worst lies in the world.  By believing lies these people are finding themselves in bondage to things are difficult to get rid of.  Believing lies helps them deny their potential and who God created them to be.

Get honest.  The real God created us to live in truth.  Yet we’ve all believed lies at some point.  What we dwell on for a long time we will be like. Much like that old saying “if you lie down with dogs, you will get flees” when we allow lies to take hold of our hearts and minds, our lives are sacrificed on an altar to a false god.

That is not God’s best or His plan for our lives.  It is time to silence the lies.  It is time to believe what God says.  It is time to allow our lives to soar high and not fizzle out.

Believe that you have God-given potential.  God made you for greatness.  He has promised you success.  All this is based on following Him.

Believe that you are not a mistake, and that you are a child of God.  Your sins have been forgiven, and your life is sealed by and held by God.  Nothing changes that fact.

Spend time thinking God thoughts.  Spend time ingesting what God says.  Believe the truth instead of the lies from the enemy who is always seeking to kill your potential, steal your truth and destroy your future.

And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

I am writing to you who are God’s children because your sins have been forgiven through Jesus.

You are blessed because you believed that the Lord would do what he said.

but is not the Good News at all. You are being fooled by those who deliberately twist the truth concerning Christ.

Brother, I always love your devotions and wise words however this is a must read for many friends in Bath this week in particular.

The devil comes to kill, steal and destroy - and one of his most powerful of weapons is words.....lies, mistruths, false murmurs, gossip etc.

Satan comes as a thief in the night and he wears many cloaks - sent to deceive even the most ardent and faith-filled believers.......

I have already seen the power of these words you have shared today as have friends whom have read this devotion.

Bless you my friend

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
