When I
was a teenager, I was blessed to be part of an awesome youth group. Even as a child I was in places where I was
taught the truth of God. I had great
teachers and even some people who modeled following God in real ways.
One of
my favorite scriptures that learned as a child came from Romans 8. Verse 28 is one many Christians quote and
often. Verse 37 says that we are
conquers through Christ. Both are
powerful Bible verses to memorize and to hold on to very tight. The last two verses and a few before it have
always gotten to me as it talks about nothing separating us from God’s love.
In
this post I’d like to give you some of the chapter from The Message (a
paraphrase of the Bible that many people have found encouraging and
insightful). May God give us even more
confidence due to God’s loves and may God give us excitement to live and enjoy
life because of His unending love because nothing will or can separate us from
His love.
So, what do you think? With God on our
side like this, how can we lose? If God didn't hesitate to put everything on
the line for us, embracing our condition and exposing himself to the worst by
sending his own Son, is there anything else he wouldn't gladly and freely do
for us? And who would dare tangle with God by messing with one of God's chosen?
Who would dare even to point a finger? The One who died for us—who was raised
to life for us!—is in the presence of God at this very moment sticking up for
us. Do you think anyone is going to be able to drive a wedge between us and
Christ's love for us? There is no way! Not trouble, not hard times, not hatred,
not hunger, not homelessness, not bullying threats, not backstabbing, not even
the worst sins listed in Scripture: They kill us in cold blood because they
hate you. We're sitting ducks; they pick us off one by one. None of this fazes
us because Jesus loves us. I'm absolutely convinced that nothing—nothing living
or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow, high or low, thinkable or
unthinkable—absolutely nothing can get between us and God's love because of the
way that Jesus our Master has embraced us.
Those
are awesome verses. In the New Living
Translation and verse 38 it says, “…not even the powers of hell can separate us
from God’s love.” That ought to
help us get even closer to believing what God says. We win.
That is the fact. It is the final
fact.
I
continue to be amazed by the grace and goodness of God. There is no way to ever comprehend the
bigness of God’s love and how much God loves us. Share that with others! Do it today
