As I pray for our church I am more convinced than ever of the calling God gave us in 2006 that carries on till now and beyond. Here are a couple of the things that we have stated:
"The church is to be the most creative institution on earth because we have the greatest message to share." And, "We are to get the attention of our community and while we have their attention, we are to tell them about Jesus."
The following verses bolted that to my heart once again this morning:
"Come, let us tell of the Lord's greatness; let us exalt his name together. I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears."
Daily we meet people with fear of all different kinds. We understand something's that are vitals.
God's love casts out fear. Healthy faith removes fear. A consistent prayer life conquers fear. Focusing on God doesn't allow fear to be our focus. A daily diet of Scripture allows us to deal with fear in positive ways.
Far too often the people we meet, and maybe we do too, allow fear and the unknown to crowd out God in our lives. As leaders we must see God and see as God sees. He sees people released from bondage. He sees and helps people begin to worship with passion. Those things happen as they watch their examples, their leaders, do those things.
Take a look in the mirror. Be honest about the current state of your faith. Are we telling of the Lord's greatness? Are we sharing the stories of how God is changing lives? Are we talking about the Scriptures that are echoing in our hearts and minds? We must.
A dear friend of mine reminds me, "souls are in the balance". By focusing on God and telling of God greatness, we will see and share even more of God's goodness.
Later in Psalm 34 it says, "taste and see that The Lord is good." Join me there today and this week. Step into the place God has prepared for you. Lead others by your example of celebrating God's greatness.
