SPRING FORWARD, serve the community & it's TAX time

It is time to SPRING FORWARD by turning our clocks ahead 1 hour this coming Saturday night.  You will be late for church on Sunday if you don't.  So pass the word to others as well.

This Sunday is week 4 of the FROM THIS DAY FORWARD series, and we will talking about what's on the inside and outside of our lives that either pushes us closer to God or pushes us away from Him and from others.  We are talking about Staying Pure.  Join us at 10:10am and bring a friend, family or even your foes with ya.

Saturday (tomorrow) is our 2nd Saturday FREE COMMUNITY MEAL & CLOTHES CLOSET from 9am until noon.  Tell people who are in need to join us as there will be plenty of food and lots of clothes (plus more).  Volunteers need to arrive at 8:30 and ready to serve.  This is a great way that we demonstrate the love of God to our community by meeting needs and sharing Jesus with the people we are honored to serve.

It is TAX TIME, and I'd like to remind you to give to the church as God guides you to.  Remember that God calls us to test Him through our giving as He will bless our lives when we are faithful with what we have.  As you give and God provides for the church we are able to help more people in our community.  Thank you for your faithfulness ahead of time.

It is getting close to EASTER, and we ask you to pray for and invite people to come to church with you that day, Sunday March 31st.  There will also be an Egg Hunt for children on Saturday, March 30th.  Watch for more details.  It is getting close to time for Raceway Ministries work at Martinsville Speedway.  Volunteer training will be this coming Thursday, March 14th at the Speedway, but you must RSVP to be a part.  See Lee Hobbs or Pastor Michael to RSVP.

Let me get a bit personal with ya.  The last few weeks have given us some awesome worship services, and the best pieces for me have been listening to my sweet wife, Julie, share some during the sermon.  This Sunday will be a bit different.  You will have to come see for yourself.  And I believe that the best days of THE COMMUNITY FELLOWSHIP are ahead of us.  We have prayed.  We are preparing.  We are seeking God.  Join in as we experience what God has ahead for us and for His church.

May God bless you, and I look forward to seeing you this weekend!

With GOD as my guide,

Pastor Michael Harrison

Catalyst ticket arrived

My ticket to the Catalyst Conference, in Atlanta Oct 8-10, just arrived. I'm excited!

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
