It’s
almost December. Thanksgiving is
over. But there is so much truth to the
thought that we have so much to be thankful for because we are blessed. Being thankful is a way of life for the
person who sees the greatness of God and the opportunities that He gives us.
1 Thessalonians
5:18 NASB
in everything
give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
Everything
means everything. In the good and the
bad, give thanks. In the celebrations of
life and in the sorry that comes along the way, give thanks. In our strength and in our weakness, give
thanks. It isn’t easy, but it is right.
The
person who sees God, loves God and seeks God will give thanks in their
everything day lives. As we leave
Thanksgiving Day, the American holiday, I understand that every day ought to be
a day of giving thanks for us.
Here
are some verses that speak to us about giving thanks:
1 Chronicles
16:34 NASB
O give thanks to the Lord, for He
is good; For His lovingkindness is everlasting.
Psalm 18:49 NASB
Therefore I
will give thanks to You among the nations, O
Lord, And I will sing praises to Your name.
Psalm 139:14 NASB
I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful
are Your works, And my soul knows it very well.
Isaiah 12:4 NASB
And in that
day you will say, “Give thanks to the Lord, call on His name.
Make known His deeds among the peoples; Make them remember that His name is exalted.”
Romans 14:6 NASB
He who
observes the day, observes it for the Lord, and he who eats, does so for the
Lord, for he gives thanks to God; and he who eats not,
for the Lord he does not eat, and gives
thanks to God.
1 Thessalonians
1:2 NASB
We give thanks to God always for all of you, making mention of you in our prayers;
2 Thessalonians
1:3 NASB
We ought
always to give thanks to God for you, brethren, as is
only fitting, because your
faith is greatly enlarged, and the love of each one of you toward one another
grows ever greater;
Hebrews 13:15 NASB
Through Him
then, let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the
fruit of lips that give thanks to His name.
Make
your days count. Make your relationships
count. Connect to God more today than
yesterday. A good way to do all three of
those things is to give thanks!
