come to a conclusion

Today I share some verses with you that stick with me much of the time.  The concepts aren’t foreign, but these could be the ones that help us get through the toughest times and/or the biggest doubts.

Read on.  Read slowly asking God to open your eyes to His truth.

So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your Christian brothers and sisters all over the world are going through the same kind of suffering you are. 10 In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation. 11 All power to him forever! Amen.

That first verse says “humble yourselves”.  It doesn’t say be humble.  There is a big difference.  Humility is a choice that we make as we allow ourselves to follow God and constantly take His lead through the power of the Holy Spirit.

“Giving all your worries and cares to God” comes with the territory of following God.  But it also comes tied to the understanding that our enemy, the devil, is 100% on our trail trying to stop us, harm us and distract us from being who God made us to be.  He “prowls like a roaring lion” ready to devour our inner and outer worth.  Humility stands between us being able to succeed or being a complete failure.

“Stand firm.”  “Remember” those who are suffering.  Allow the kindness, the grace and the power of God to transform you and me as we seek humility.

Humility doesn’t mean that we allow people to walk all over us.  It means that we chose Jesus’ definition and His life above our own.  It means we chose to serve others in the way that Jesus chose to serve others.  There we find the power of God.

I’ve come to a conclusion.  When people experience the real, unconditional love of God, they cannot helped but be challenged and changed.  That is why we have a choice to make, a conclusion to come to and a life to life.  That is a life that makes Him known.  Him being Jesus.  Me and you being His follower, a humble servant.

Have you come to a conclusion?

He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less.

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
