push through the fear

There are many things that trip us up and keep us from finding satisfaction and success in this life, but the biggest one I believe is the top point that replaces or kicks out faith.  That would be fear.  Our response to fear makes a big difference in how the situations play out in the future.

Fear is a tool the enemy uses to keep us from trusting and even seeing God.  That’s why we have to push through the fear.  When fear is not dealt with in a proactive way, that feat will cripple us for a long time.

Luke 9:23  NASB
And He was saying to them all, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me.

There is a sticky point.  To “deny himself” is a very difficult thing to do for the best of people.  Our human nature is selfish and fights for its own way when our spiritual side presses us to be selfless as we follow God and His plan for our lives and this world.  Denying self is a choice that is made by people who push through the fear.

For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.

God is literally working in the person who is choosing to push through the fear.  By saying that we will not allow fear to keep us from following God and doing what is best we recognize that God is working like no one or no thing can work in our lives.

Fear keeps us from seeing God and seizing what God has for us.  Faith releases us and kicks fear to the place where it ought to reside.  And that is not within us.  It starts as we push through fear.

Yesterday began with reading some of the verses that have big time encouraged me through the years.  It has some meat or some walking points that keeps fear at bay and keeps faith at the front of our hearts and our minds.  As you read through the verses below make notes abut what it is to or how to push through fear!

Does anyone want to live a life that is long and prosperous? 13 Then keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies! 14  Turn away from evil and do good.  Search for peace, and work to maintain it. 15  The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right; his ears are open to their cries for help. 16  But the Lord turns his face against those who do evil; he will erase their memory from the earth. 17   The Lord hears his people when they call to him for help.
He rescues them from all their troubles. 18  The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.

To push through the fear we must:

-- season our words with life and courage
-- chose what is good and what breeds peace
-- acknowledge that God hears our cry and rescues us
-- God rescues from us from trouble (fear leads to trouble)
-- our God is close to us!

Believe what God says.  Chose to push through the fear that comes into your life!

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
