Change. Literally the amazing things that God has
done to our lives keeps me digging deeper in to understanding faith and how
amazing it is. The series we are in at
The Community is called CHANGE and illustrates what God has done.
Here is a passage
of the Bible about the change God has brought in to our lives:
Colossians
3:1-4 NLT
Since you
have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of
heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. 2 Think about the things of
heaven, not the things of earth. 3 For
you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 And when Christ, who is your life,
is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory.
Understanding the
truth of what God has done for us makes us live life differently. Applying truth is not an option. Letting our minds think through our faith and
letting it sink in to our hearts is a big deal.
It is a fact that
God gave us new life in Christ. Heaven
is our eternal reality. For many people
heaven is some dream of gates made of jewels or streets made of gold. But I suggest that heaven is far past what we
can imagine by ourselves.
By setting our
minds, our thinking, on the things of God our lives will be much
different. It will make the difficulties
we find here on earth much easier to deal with.
Think a bit more. By focusing on
what God says and does we don’t put great importance on things that don’t
matter. What is important to us drives
what we do in life.
Our real self is
hidden in God. Hidden is a great
thing. It is not something that God
hides because of shame or of not understanding.
God has hidden our lives in Him because our salvation is protected and
certain and secure in Him. His saving
truth for us is more than we can understand because, as human, we rationalize
or overthink how it works. Faith is
about trusting that what God says is true and nothing can change it.
He changes us. There is more to come. When Jesus returns, we will be with Him. Step a little further and see that all the
glory goes to God and nowhere else.
Going a little
deeper in our faith is a great thing. By
understanding what God has done we grow closer to Him and more committed to
living with and for Him.
