volunteer of the week CINDY ADAMS

This week we honor Cindy Adams as The Community Fellowship’s Volunteer of the Week!

Cindy Adams and her husband, Kasim, have part of The Community Fellowship family for over 7 years.

Her love of children and her genuine passion for the elderly are represented in the ministries she is involved in as well as in her career.

Cindy’s job as a caretaker entails helping her clients with activities of daily living during the week, and her weekends are focused on nurturing the children she is entrusted with.

On Sundays Cindy is often the first person our visitors and regular attenders encounter when they come into the church. She has a warm smile for everyone and all are made to feel welcome. After worship, Cindy can be found ministering to our children in the nursery and teaching those in the preschool class. She regularly helps by doing the clerical part of our financial records after church.

At our new campus Cindy has worked many hours sweeping, picking up trash and sorting paper to be recycled.

She has a heart for missions and has taken several trips to South Carolina and West Virginia to be a part of missions work there. Cindy also loves to cook and took the lead in cooking for mission teams that have visited us including Families on Missions last year and Men on a Mission just a few weeks ago.

During back2school registration Cindy loves to measure the children’s feet in preparation for the event when she gets to hand out the new shoes and socks. She enjoys watching the reactions of the children on that day.

In her spare time Cindy loves music, cooking and riding golf carts with her 8-year-old granddaughter Brooke. When asked what she was looking forward to in the future she said, “I just want to strive to be the best Granny Cindy to Brooke that I can be.”

Cindy’s favorite Bible verses are Philippians 4:13 “I can do everything through Christ who gives me strength.” and 1 Chronicles 16:34, “Give thanks to the Lord; for He is good; His love endures forever.

Cindy Adams is a genuine, compassionate and sincere part of our fellowship, and we are indeed honored to recognize her as our Volunteer of the Week! Thank you, Cindy, for demonstrating the love of God to our community!

Catalyst ticket arrived

My ticket to the Catalyst Conference, in Atlanta Oct 8-10, just arrived. I'm excited!

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
