make a difference


1 John 3:17  NLT
If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion—how can God’s love be in that person?

Through the last several years I have met several incredible people who live and work in our county.  Many of them have put their hearts on the line as they have stepped up to serve hurting people.  It is our desire at The Community to help those who are hungry and hurting homeless.  Through large projects and weekly benevolent help we have been able to help many people.

But there are some people who still tick me off.  These are the ones who say that someone else can help or that there are no people in need or that it is just not there problem.  None of that is true, but I am accountable only for my choices and to share my heart with others.

As I go about what we do I am constantly listening to music especially in car.  That is where I want to leave today’s devotion with you.  Matthew West’s song Do Something has grabbed my heart several times.

As you read the lyrics I pray that God will prepare each of us to be able to help more people see Him and get help…

inspiration from C.S. Lewis

There are many people, past and present, who get our attention by what they write or say or share.  For me C.S. Lewis is one of those.  He was a prolific writer who continues to grab the attention of thinkers from many different points of view. Lewis first grabbed my attention when I was in 5 th grader, and our teacher, Mrs. Foy, shared The Chronicles of Narnia with our class.  It was a powerful time that this dreamer opened doors to thinking like I had never lived before.  He wrote of faith, of far off places and of strong figures who found their character rooted deep in God. C.S.
