The Community's volunteer of the week DAVID TERRY

This week we honor David Terry as The Community Fellowship's volunteer of the week!

David Terry has been a part of The Community Fellowship family for 5 years and is involved in many ministries here.  He retired from the Henry County Sheriff’s  Office in June 2011 and currently operates his own business building Road/flight Cases for music instruments and band equipment.

Each Sunday David serves as part of our Worship Team playing the drums and singing.  David is also a encourager blessing as many as possible with a loving hug and positive encouragement as he truly loves his church family.

David volunteers in every area of our back2school Ministry, that is except for the hair cutting area.  He is willing to help wherever he is needed.  He enjoys playing with the children, talking with them and making sure they leave the event with a smile in addition to their new book bags, shoes, socks and clothes.

During the week, David does construction at our new campus and has spent many hours working there to ensure that we’ll be able to move in as soon as possible.  David is very excited about our new campus and the direction God is leading our church.  He says he cannot wait to see what the Lord has in store for us.

David loves serving the Lord and says that serving with his wife, Jennifer Terry, as a Leader in our Youth Ministry is his greatest joy here at The Community.

In his spare time David enjoys playing drums, building road cases and other things such as fishing, boating, 4-wheeling, golf, socializing at Lowe’s and spending time with his wife, Jennifer and their children, Anna 15, Matthew 11 and Jeremiah 11.

David’s favorite Scripture is Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, says the LORD, they are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”

Our church family is extremely blessed by David Terry, and we are honored to recognize him as our Volunteer of the Week! Thank you, David, for all you do here to serve the Lord and show His love to our community!

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
