its all about God...

Tonight is our annual Family Fun Night at Halloween where we partner with the TV station near the church and others.  There will be free hotdogs, popcorn, inflatables, trunk or treat and more.  Volunteers need to arrive at 5pm, and please bring more bags of candy with you.  Thanks to our own Matthew Perdue for helping make this event a huge success.

The Community Fellowship was formed to meet people where they are and demonstrate the love of God to our community while we get their attention.  This event, and all the events we do, is one more way to share Christ.  Come out.  Pass the word.  Let’s make a difference!

"God is not just the starting point of your life; he is the source of it." - Rick Warren

Are you at the end of the rope?  Do you have nowhere else to turn?

Many people find that those two places are the very ones where they find God.  That’s where we find God in incredible ways.  Yet along the journey we are on through the good and bad times, He has been there.  Too many people, including Christians, have God as their last resort when He ought to be the very first place we go.

Relationships are important, and this is seen by the time, commitment and investment we make in the people we encounter.  If you care about a person, you spend time with them.  If you love them, you invest in their lives and in what they see is important.  From time to time it may be critical to re-evaluate your relationships.  What is important?  What will last?  What needs to be set aside?

It is Halloween!  There are a few people thinking the God kind of thoughts, yet there are many who would rather wrap themselves in the fun of the day. I am not knocking the day and all that happens on it, but God wants to be wrapping Himself around us and living through us. What can we do to let that happen?

The only way to change our thinking is to let God fill our thinking…

“For everything comes from him; everything exists by his power and is intended for his glory. To him be glory evermore. Amen.”

Everything finds it beginning and its continuing in God.  He is our power, and He is the one who loves us so much.

“But we know that there is only one God, the Father, who created everything, and we exist for him. And there is only one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom God made everything and through whom we have been given life.”

Nothing can change that fact.  We can know this fact and others will know this fact as we allow it to flow through our lives.

“Follow God's example in everything you do, because you are his dear children. Live a life filled with love for others, following the example of Christ, who loved you and gave himself as a sacrifice to take away your sins. And God was pleased, because that sacrifice was like sweet perfume to him.”

Life is all about God.  I have said that before, and I believe it.  You have agreed to that fact or at least questioned it.  That is not a problem. It might even be an open door to share with others, yet do our actions and our beliefs match? Lets turn to God before we get the end of the rope and let our lives be all about God.  Lets help others find God and allow Him to transform their lives as he has our lives!

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you

why is it Good Friday?

Holy Week is the time we focus on God and His gift of salvation.  We come to Friday.  The day we remember the cross, Jesus’ death and all God has done for you and me   Why do they call this day “Good Friday” because it doesn’t seems good?   Jesus was treated as a criminal.  He was beaten so much that He could not recognize Him.  His pain would have been too much for you or me to endure.  That is especially from Scripture I’ve read or as in the movie the  Passion of the Christ .   Yet it is a good day.  It is Good Friday because God had our good in His heart.  What Jesus did that day changed our forever direction. Here are some thoughts that come to me:   He is Redemption and Redeemer   He too our Pain and Punishment   He is our Righteousness and Reality   He is the Savior and Life   All of those happened from the cross.  It was meant for the worst lawbreakers.  It was not meant for a Savior who never broke a law.  It was lifted high so that onlookers could see the price Jesus.   Look

Day 8 in Cuba

We have just come off and incredible weekend, and it is day 8 of the mission trip in Cuba.  Thank you to all who have been praying for this trip, the mission team and the impact it will have on those we serve.   Please don’t stop praying. Last week Alex and I served with a mission team in the mountains of southern Cuba.  There were several challenges, but God gave us safety, provision and opportunity to serve some of the sweetest people I have ever met.  No running water… sporadic electricity generated by a small, logo dammed up river, no transportation other than animals, limited food sources and more.  These people love the Lord and sharing their faith with others. Over the weekend we made our way back to Havana.  On Friday our vehicle broke down leaving us on the side of the road for several hours.  We then boarded a bus and rode 14 hours.  We arrived safely and even got some rest. Sunday was so, so good.  We visited two partner churches.  In the morning we were with one church that
