The Community's volunteer of the week KATHY CLEMENTS

This week The Community’s volunteer of the week is Kathy Clements!!!

Kathy Clements has been attending The Community Fellowship for over a year and became a member of the church about 3 months ago.

She and her boyfriend, Greg Reyes, own a lawn care business and began donating their services of mowing the lawn at our new campus almost as soon as they started attending worship with us.  They also generously purchased and donated a beautiful sign for our new property.

Kathy is a Leader of REACH Ministry and is instrumental in showing the love of Jesus to those she ministers to with the free meal at the Martinsville Hotel.

During back2school Kathy volunteered in the Pack the Bus Ministry and is also on hand to count and sort the donations we receive as well as filling the book bags with school supplies to be given to the children blessed during this event.

Kathy is a regular volunteer at our Fall Festival and will be actively serving others at this year’s activity on October 31st from 6pm till 9pm in the parking lot of The Community Fellowship.

Last year Kathy used her creative gifts to design a float to represent our church in the Christmas parade and hopes to do that again this year’s parade.

Kathy is gifted with a true servant’s heart and volunteers much of her time to serving and blessing the elderly in our area.  In April she regularly organizes a party for senior citizens in the Community Room at Spruce Village with live music and cloggers for entertainment.  She is now busily preparing a Costume party for them where she will be dressed as Raggedy Ann.  Kathy speaks before each party and strives to spend time with each person there telling them about Jesus and building a relationship with them.  She also joins in by calling the numbers at their Bingo games.

During the week Kathy volunteers her time to running errands, cleaning homes and taking elderly friends to Dr.’s appointments and to the grocery store.

In Kathy’s spare time she enjoys being outside, walking her little dogs, praying for her church family and spending time with her grandchildren, Armin 4, Malachi 9, and Lily 3.

Kathy’s favorite Bible verse is John 14:1 “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in Me.”

We are indeed honored to recognize and celebrate Kathy Clements as our Volunteer of the Week!  Kathy, you exemplify our motto of demonstrating the love of God to our community with your selfless acts of kindness and through your generosity of freely giving of your time and talents to family, church family and community.  Thank you!

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
