volunteer of the week JONATHAN NORMAN

This week The Community Fellowship’s “volunteer of the week” is Jonathan Norman!!!

Jonathan Norman, his wife Angie and their family have been part of The Community Fellowship family since its beginning.

During our back2school Ministry Jonathan volunteers in the Shoe Area making sure the right shoes are selected for each child that is blessed through this event.

Jonathan is a Diesel Mechanic and is instrumental in using his skills in our Mother’s Day Car Care Ministry where many women are blessed to be able bring their cars to the church and receive a free oil change and engine diagnostics.

Angie Norman, Jonathan’s wife, describes him as a “Certified Brainiac” when it comes to trucks and equipment.  We are indeed blessed that he uses these gifts to bless our church family as well as others!

Our church recently was part of Raceway Ministries, and Jonathan makes a point of always being on hand to set up and take down chairs, serve coffee and minister to others while he’s there.

Jonathan has gone on Mission Trips with the church and also spends much of his time at our new campus using his skills as a mechanic as well as doing the work necessary to prepare for us to be able to move in soon.

Having found victory in the Lord over and over, Jonathan strives to lead his family in praying together regularly and watching Jesus work 100% of the time, no matter the circumstance.

In his spare time Jonathan loves to spend time with his dad, Larry Norman.  He also enjoys spinning wheels and being a dirt bike mechanic for his sons, John-John 11 and Hayden 8.  Jonathan and his wife have been married for 13 years and have never been on a honeymoon and are very happy to be able to take a trip to the beach this next month to celebrate.

Jonathan’s favorite Bible verse is Joshua 24:15 “But if you refuse to serve the LORD, then choose today whom you will serve.  Would you prefer the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates?  Or will it be the gods of the Amorites in whose land you now live?  But as for me and my family, we will serve the LORD.”

We are indeed honored to recognize Jonathan Norman as The Community’s volunteer of the week!  Thank you, Jonathan, for striving to show the love of God to our community through your generous service to others.

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
