volunteer of the week LEE HOBBS

This week’s volunteer of the week at The Community Fellowship is Lee Hobbs!!!

Lee Hobbs and his wife Anita have been at The Community Fellowship since its beginning.

On Saturdays Lee volunteers in REACH Ministry and is a valuable and dependable member of the team.  During our outREACH in September Lee was involved in helping with the set up and clean-up of the event.  He carried many heavy supplies and saw to it that the volunteers had what they needed to minister to the guests there as well as seeing to it that the supplies were delivered back to the church and put away to be used at future events.

Lee is a big part of our annual B2S (back2school) Ministry where each year our church partners with other churches to provide new shoes, socks, book bags, school supplies haircuts and clothes to children who may otherwise not have what they need to feel confident and prepared for the year ahead.

While the church offices are closed from to time Lee can often be found taking care of maintenance of the building and making sure lights are working properly and things are functioning as they should.

Lee was part of the original leadership team that helped found the church, and he was a member of the Leadership Team for over 5 years.  He is a volunteer with Raceway Ministries.  He also has been involved in a Small Group and helped to lead a Financial Counseling Ministry where the Joe Sangl method was taught.  He wants others within our church family to know that this system works, and he is willing to sit down and talk about this with anyone who is serious about getting out of debt.

When asked what are some things Lee is looking forward to, he replied, “Seeing the new campus the way God has envisioned it!  (By the way Michael has been given the vision!  We all need to see it with him!).  What God is laying on my heart and it is way out of my comfort zone, but hey, that is what God is supposed to do, right?  Take us out of our comfort and let Him take control!  I have been here from the beginning and have seen God do things that I would have never imagined possible, and I always look forward to seeing what He has in store next!  It has been an amazing journey at The Community, and we need to step up every chance we get to be the church that God created us for and that is to help those who are hurting.”

In his spare time Lee strives to serve when and where he can.  He enjoys riding his 4 wheeler, camping, hunting, spending time with friends and especially his wife Anita and their daughter Emma who is 10 years old.

Lee’s favorite Bible Scripture is 2 Corinthians 4:18 “So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen.  For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever,”

We are indeed honored to announce and introduce Lee Hobbs as our Community Fellowship Volunteer of the Week!  Thank you, Lee, for your obedience in serving and your heart to help others!  We appreciate you!

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
