who are you going to invite?

Everyone of us has relationships and people that we care deeply about.  When something exciting happens, we want to share with others.  That could be a gift we receive or an award we achieve or a number of number of others happenings.  It might even be a new baby or grandbaby born or an upcoming marriage.  All kinds of things get us excited.

Our walk with God ought to be the same.  It is one of the things we “get-to-do” by inviting people to follow Jesus or to go to church with us.  It is not about filling up the chairs or pews at church.  It is about letting people know that great life along with forgiveness and peace are available from our great and gracious God.

The people around us have got to meet our God.  One of the best days in my life was when I met Jesus.  Some of the other best days in my life is when God reminds me what He has done and renews my understanding of His love for me.  And we get to invite others to experience the same.

Isn’t that awesome?  We get to invite people to meet our Jesus.  We get to invite people to come to church or Bible study or to serve with us where people can meet God.  So, who are you inviting this week?

Lets take a look at some invitations in the Bible.

Now go out to the street corners and invite everyone you see.

I do everything to spread the Good News and share in its blessings.

One way we get to invite people is when we invite people to know Jesus.  That can come in so many forms from a personal story in a conversation, to a letter written to a friend or even a personal invitation to church.  Another way is through media...TV, radio, web site...letting people hear about Jesus.

Hold the phone.  There is another invitation we HAVE TO THINK about all the time.  Who is it we are inviting to be part of our lives?

Far too many people invite Satan, most of the time unknowingly, to join them on our daily lives.  We give him all the space he wants.  We listen to his every word and even watch his every move.  It is kind of mesmerizing.

We don't want to do that.  Our enemy has no place in our lives and in our business.  But we let him in.  It is time to kick him out.  No invitation to you, nasty dude.  It is time for JESUS to take over.  Hear me out:

The thief's purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.

Invite people to enjoy life, not hate it.  Invite people to find purpose, not pain.  Invite people to see and have hope, not have more desperation.

How are we inviting people to enter your life and to get the love and life that God offers?  By the way, God made you a winner.  Know it.  Believe it.  Live it.  That is 'THE INVITATION' God offers you today!

No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.

Invite the people around you, those you know and those you don’t, to get to know God.  Our testimonies must share with them.  Our conversation should lead to Him.  Our smiles and encouragement ought to be contagious because we have come to know God personal and had our lives changed.

Join me and others in inviting people to come to know Jesus.  Invite people to come to church with you this weekend.  Who are you going to invite?

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you

why is it Good Friday?

Holy Week is the time we focus on God and His gift of salvation.  We come to Friday.  The day we remember the cross, Jesus’ death and all God has done for you and me   Why do they call this day “Good Friday” because it doesn’t seems good?   Jesus was treated as a criminal.  He was beaten so much that He could not recognize Him.  His pain would have been too much for you or me to endure.  That is especially from Scripture I’ve read or as in the movie the  Passion of the Christ .   Yet it is a good day.  It is Good Friday because God had our good in His heart.  What Jesus did that day changed our forever direction. Here are some thoughts that come to me:   He is Redemption and Redeemer   He too our Pain and Punishment   He is our Righteousness and Reality   He is the Savior and Life   All of those happened from the cross.  It was meant for the worst lawbreakers.  It was not meant for a Savior who never broke a law.  It was lifted high so that onlookers could see the price Jesus.   Look

Day 8 in Cuba

We have just come off and incredible weekend, and it is day 8 of the mission trip in Cuba.  Thank you to all who have been praying for this trip, the mission team and the impact it will have on those we serve.   Please don’t stop praying. Last week Alex and I served with a mission team in the mountains of southern Cuba.  There were several challenges, but God gave us safety, provision and opportunity to serve some of the sweetest people I have ever met.  No running water… sporadic electricity generated by a small, logo dammed up river, no transportation other than animals, limited food sources and more.  These people love the Lord and sharing their faith with others. Over the weekend we made our way back to Havana.  On Friday our vehicle broke down leaving us on the side of the road for several hours.  We then boarded a bus and rode 14 hours.  We arrived safely and even got some rest. Sunday was so, so good.  We visited two partner churches.  In the morning we were with one church that
