volunteer of the week KENNY KOGER

This week’s volunteer of the week at The Community Fellowship is Kenny Koger!!!

Kenny Koger has been a part of The Community Fellowship family for 6 years.

As his work schedule allows, Kenny blesses us by volunteering at the church helping with the general cleaning as well as assisting others by getting food boxes and helping those in emergency situations get clothes from the Clothes Closet.

Kenny is a member of the REACH Team and also does Security during our Second Saturday Clothes Closet Ministry.  We can always depend on Kenny to be on hand at our annual Family Fall Festival in October where he said he “wrapped a thousand hot dogs one year!”

During our Mother’s Day Car Care Clinic Kenny fluctuates between helping working on cars to being a runner for supplies and working in the Clothes Closet Area.

August is a busy time for Kenny with our B2S (back2school) Ministry each yearHe has volunteered by working in the warehouse and sorting school supplies as well as being on hand during Pack the Bus.  During the event Kenny tries to fill in where ever he is needed.  Typically he can be found helping to get the clothes arranged orderly so the children can easily shop and he also enjoys working in the Shoe Area.

Kenny works at Nautica and spends much of his time taking care of his sister, Kristy, who is having some health issues.  He also volunteers at our New Campus when he can and regularly checks the property and the gate while he is in the area.

In his spare time Kenny tries to promote the church and attempts to reach lost and hurting people that others may not feel comfortable talking to.  He enjoys hunting, fishing and spending time with his sister, Kristy and his niece Wendy Mae.

When asked what he’d like for his church family to know about him he replied, “I’m basically too shy to approach people because of the way I look, but I’m an open book and I welcome them to approach me and talk and make friends.”  He went on to say that, “before coming to The Community Fellowship I was the biggest atheist ever.  I visited the church with my parents, Kenneth and Mary Koger, and heard Michael talk about Jesus and a warm feeling came over me.  Now I’m saved, baptized and kind of on the crazy side!”

Kenny’s favorite Bible Verse is John 11:25, 26 Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life.  Anyone who believes in Me will live, even after dying.  Everyone who lives in Me and believes in Me will never die.  Do you believe this, Martha?”

We are honored to know and recognize Kenny Koger as our Community Fellowship Volunteer of the Week!  Thank you, Kenny, for your kind spirit and your genuine desire to serve the Lord by serving others!  We love you!

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...
