blessed to be a blessing

Then Moses and Aaron went into the Tabernacle, and when they came back out, they blessed the people again, and the glory of the Lord appeared to the whole community.

One of the most obvious truths is that we are blessed.  To live in America is a blessing.  To be part of a family is a blessing.  There are many of those type things that we can and must point to as blessings, yet I think we must go farther.

Those who have chosen to follow God are blessed, and if we stop long enough, we can literally “count our blessings” as we see and experience the hand of God in our lives.  Like when Moses and Aaron stepped out of the temple there was a time when God met with His people, moved within His character, which is way outside and beyond human expectations, and His blessings on His kids are too numerous to count.

All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ.

We are blessed by God so that we take the blessings to another level or to share them with others.  Blessings are often times the things that God teaches us through.  Blessings are not always in the positive category.

“Some people come in our life as blessings. Some come in your life as lessons.”  Mother Teresa

That’s tough.  To learn from the blessings, the good and the bad, is a must for all who want to be who God made us to be.  Really it takes swallowing our pride to learn from the difficult blessings.

How we see our blessings will change how we respond to our blessings.  Think about it for a minute.  When you get extra money, which is a blessing, do you bless others?  When you learn big truth, do you take notes and share it with others?

Blessed are those who are generous, because they feed the poor.

When we come to the place where we give simply because we have an unselfish, liberal heart of gratitude toward God, we will be well on the road to the blessed life. – Robert Morris, The Blessed Life

There is more to blessings than simply taking them all in.  In fact the blessings God gives are always tied to using them for the good of others and for the glory of God.  Blessings are meant to be shared.

Step up and do something with what you have been given.  Acknowledge your blessings.  Point them toward God.  It is an act of faith.

Luke 1:45  NLT
You are blessed because you believed that the Lord would do what he said.

Get personal about our blessings.  They are tied to your relationship with God.  He has decided and chosen to love us and to load our lives with the things that give us joy and work for the best good of God’s kingdom.  That is why we have to see our blessings from God’s point of view as life, in human thinking, is often not fair.

“In a world that contains tragedies, we must realize that they’re vastly outnumbered by blessings.”David Jeremiah, What Are You Afraid Of?

Blessings outnumber our pain.  Blessings lead us out of struggles.  Blessings remind us that the next steps will come with more blessings.

You will be blessed if you obey the commands of the Lord your God that I am giving you today.

We are blessed so that we can give back to God and share with others.  Blessings are real and are in all of our lives!  As you begin your day or continue your day, spend time confessing this truth …

YOU ARE “Blessed to be a blessing”

NOTE: don't forget to change your clocks Saturday night (spring forward 1 hour) so you are not late for church on Sunday!

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you

why is it Good Friday?

Holy Week is the time we focus on God and His gift of salvation.  We come to Friday.  The day we remember the cross, Jesus’ death and all God has done for you and me   Why do they call this day “Good Friday” because it doesn’t seems good?   Jesus was treated as a criminal.  He was beaten so much that He could not recognize Him.  His pain would have been too much for you or me to endure.  That is especially from Scripture I’ve read or as in the movie the  Passion of the Christ .   Yet it is a good day.  It is Good Friday because God had our good in His heart.  What Jesus did that day changed our forever direction. Here are some thoughts that come to me:   He is Redemption and Redeemer   He too our Pain and Punishment   He is our Righteousness and Reality   He is the Savior and Life   All of those happened from the cross.  It was meant for the worst lawbreakers.  It was not meant for a Savior who never broke a law.  It was lifted high so that onlookers could see the price Jesus.   Look

Day 8 in Cuba

We have just come off and incredible weekend, and it is day 8 of the mission trip in Cuba.  Thank you to all who have been praying for this trip, the mission team and the impact it will have on those we serve.   Please don’t stop praying. Last week Alex and I served with a mission team in the mountains of southern Cuba.  There were several challenges, but God gave us safety, provision and opportunity to serve some of the sweetest people I have ever met.  No running water… sporadic electricity generated by a small, logo dammed up river, no transportation other than animals, limited food sources and more.  These people love the Lord and sharing their faith with others. Over the weekend we made our way back to Havana.  On Friday our vehicle broke down leaving us on the side of the road for several hours.  We then boarded a bus and rode 14 hours.  We arrived safely and even got some rest. Sunday was so, so good.  We visited two partner churches.  In the morning we were with one church that
