God re-presents His grace to us

Life has moments that leave us wondering what’s next or even leaving us wanting to give up.  Yet God destined us for winning.  He built us with talents and gifts to use for great living.  He planned for us victory, abundance, joy and meaning.

For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

Further, we have to acknowledge that life isn’t fair or easy.  How do we get through the tough times?  Get some perspective and I remind you of a couple truths about our God’s strength:

The Lord is good, a strong refuge when trouble comes. He is close to those who trust in him.

For we rejoice when we ourselves are weak but you are strong; this we also pray for, that you be made complete.

When we are weak, He is strong.  Those verses pattern for the person following Him that we find safety and refuge in God because He is close to us.  He says when we feel weak that we must lean on Him, and that will make us complete.

God built us for relationships: relationships with other humans, bur first and foremost we are built for a relationship with Him.

God can take a person with fails, who has experienced failure and make them, or us, into a useful vessel for His honor.  He made us to win.

Winning is not at all what the world calls winning. It is not about stepping on people to get what we want or finding the weaknesses of others and hitting at those points.  It is about serving others and making sure we are strong enough to serve.  One sure way to pursue success is to ingest the word of God.  Take it in and do that often.  The next step cannot be missed either.  After something has been ingested or swallowed it has to be digested.  To digest the word of God inwardly is to connect with God and put in to practice what God has taught us.

We receive from God all He wants for us.  The best part is that God continues to show us Himself often.  That is God is re presenting Himself to us.  Seeing His grace and love in living color and full of strength.  I long for more of Him.  I believe that God longs for us to experience Him.

For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.

God reveals himself or re presents Himself to us often and in many ways.  In creation we see His handy work.  In the covenant love He has for us we experience and learn of His unconditional love.  Through the presence and sacrifice of Christ we get all of God that takes us places we cannot get on our own.  Finally, it in our conscious God speaks truth and gives guidance.

Our strength is tied directly to our being in relationship with God and trusting Him fully.  Our lives and those around us will be impacted with everything good as our connection to God gets even stronger!

but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...
