volunteer of the week UNNAMED HEROES

This week’s volunteer of the week at The Community Fellowship are … UNNAMED HEROES!!!

Volunteers at The Community Fellowship are invaluable to us and worth their weight in gold!  We take great joy in recognizing, through our Volunteer of the Week, those that strive to help others and help our church demonstrate the love of God to our community.

Volunteers share their time and talents without any compensation, so it's crucial, to us, to acknowledge their contributions and let them know they are valued and deeply appreciated.  This week we want to recognize those exceptional volunteers that haven’t wanted their names mentioned.

The compassion these volunteers show to the people we serve is an inspiration for us all.  We've noticed how they treat everyone with respect and kindness, no matter what the situation is.  We know how stressful it can be for the people who find themselves in need of the services we provide, and the words and actions of our volunteers go a long way toward helping them keep their dignity.

We want to let you know what an outstanding job you are doing with the children you work with.  They really respond to you, and that's probably due to how patient you are with them.  We can hear their laughter and excitement about the lessons you teach, and we see their confidence growing each week.  You have such a wonderful ability to meet each child at his or her ability level and work up from there.  The children are so lucky to have you as their teacher, and so are we.

Thank you for helping sort and organize all the donations we have received.  It has been a lot of work, but you've done a wonderful job keeping the inflow and outflow running smoothly and helping us prepare for Clothes Closet, Mother’s Day Car Care, back2School and REACH Ministries.  You are such an important part of our church family, and we hope you know that.

Thank you for all the hard work and many hours you have contributed to our New Campus to make it safe and get it ready for us all to move into.

Thank you for the many meals you have helped to cook, serve and clean up after each month and for always treating those that come to eat like a special guest.

Thank you for the oil changes, the diagnostics, the washed feet, haircuts and water carried.

Thank you for standing at the door of the sanctuary simply to smile and welcome people in.

Thank you for serving in front of our congregation week after week to lead us into worship.

We just want you to know that your work hasn't gone unnoticed, and we thank you for all that you do.

Romans 12:9-13 Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection.  Outdo one another in showing honor.  Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord.  Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.  Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality.”

We are honored to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt thanks and appreciation for a job well done.  Thank you so much for your labor of love with, in and through The Community Fellowship.  Your willingness to use your gifts and abilities has strengthened the mission and ministry of this church.  You have also been a powerful example of servant-leadership and giving.  For all your time, support, effort, hard work and prayers, please accept the thanks and appreciation of this church, its leaders, staff and pastor.  Our volunteers are the ones who represent who we are and share the love of Christ in a way we’d never be able to without them.  We couldn’t do what we do without you!  Thank YOU!

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you

why is it Good Friday?

Holy Week is the time we focus on God and His gift of salvation.  We come to Friday.  The day we remember the cross, Jesus’ death and all God has done for you and me   Why do they call this day “Good Friday” because it doesn’t seems good?   Jesus was treated as a criminal.  He was beaten so much that He could not recognize Him.  His pain would have been too much for you or me to endure.  That is especially from Scripture I’ve read or as in the movie the  Passion of the Christ .   Yet it is a good day.  It is Good Friday because God had our good in His heart.  What Jesus did that day changed our forever direction. Here are some thoughts that come to me:   He is Redemption and Redeemer   He too our Pain and Punishment   He is our Righteousness and Reality   He is the Savior and Life   All of those happened from the cross.  It was meant for the worst lawbreakers.  It was not meant for a Savior who never broke a law.  It was lifted high so that onlookers could see the price Jesus.   Look

Day 8 in Cuba

We have just come off and incredible weekend, and it is day 8 of the mission trip in Cuba.  Thank you to all who have been praying for this trip, the mission team and the impact it will have on those we serve.   Please don’t stop praying. Last week Alex and I served with a mission team in the mountains of southern Cuba.  There were several challenges, but God gave us safety, provision and opportunity to serve some of the sweetest people I have ever met.  No running water… sporadic electricity generated by a small, logo dammed up river, no transportation other than animals, limited food sources and more.  These people love the Lord and sharing their faith with others. Over the weekend we made our way back to Havana.  On Friday our vehicle broke down leaving us on the side of the road for several hours.  We then boarded a bus and rode 14 hours.  We arrived safely and even got some rest. Sunday was so, so good.  We visited two partner churches.  In the morning we were with one church that
