it's a great time to give!

Summer has begun.  We are excited about the things that happen around The Community Fellowship this time of the year.  That includes back2school and so much more.  As you go about vacation and family times don't forget to continue being faithful to your church.  We are each each Sunday and will miss you when you are gone.  You can continue to give at church, through the mail (PO Box 388, Collinsville, VA 24078) or online at THIS LINK.  Thank you for your faithfulness!

Sunday some thing awesome happened that you need to be part of.  One of our church family gave a $5,000 gift to our Vision Fund which is used for the new campus.  That gift was given with the understanding that it is a dollar for dollar matching gift.  In other words any money given this week is automatically doubled.  If you give $100, it becomes $200.  If you give $1,000, it is matched to $2,000.  Will you help us meet this challenge?  This summer we need $50,000 to come in so that we will have material for our work teams to use.  Pray for God to meet this need.  We are grateful for the blessing of this gift that becomes $10,000.  You can give online at THIS LINK and choose "vision fund" under accounts.

One last item ... often we are given opportunities to serve those in need.  This weekend was one such opportunity.  A deputy from our local sheriff's office directed a family to our church that is stranded in our community.  They only speak Italian.  Their minivan broke down and has been repaired, but it took all their money for the repairs.  Currently, this family with 3 small children is at a local hotel and will be raising money so that they can get home to Houston, Texas.  Please pray for this family, and help as you are led by God.

Next Sunday we begin a brand new series.  LOVE WINS will be the kickoff to our summer as we understand how much God loves us and how we can take the next steps to share God's love with others.  That really is the trademark of a great church, the love of God seen, felt, and shared with others.  There is so much more to come!

Please help us reach this dollar for dollar matching gift and the goal of $10,000.  Do all you can this week to demonstrate the love of God to our community and beyond.  We have experienced God, and we are about to take that fact to the next level.  Have a great week!

With GOD as my guide,

Pastor Michael Harrison

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
