work at our new campus

Hello Community Family and Friends ---

It is time to do something.  We have been do blessed by God through the last two years as we have been rehabbing, building the former American Standard building (700 Commerce Court, Martinsville, VA 24078).  It has come a very long way, but we have a long way to go.  There are several ways you can help!

WEED EATER event, tomorrow, Saturday, July 20th at 8:30am we will meet at our new campus and work for a couple hours.  You will need weed eaters, plenty of string for the weed eaters, fuel for them and you.  Please where clothes that protect you.  Long pants are requested as are closed toes shoes.  Jerry Byrd will lead this event.  For questions contact me, Pastor Michael, via email mharrison@thecommunityfellowship.org .

THIS COMING WEEK, Tuesday through Friday, June 23-26, mission team on site, and you can be a big help.  People are needed to help with construction, clean up and preparing for more work.  The mission team will be working through lunch each day.  Kasim Adams will lead this time, and for questions contact Pastor Michael.  Also, pray for our youth who are at youth camp this week.

NEXT MISSION TEAM (this is a change) will be with us July 12-17, and you can help much.  The date was originally the week before.  The team will be 50 or so construction people.  Volunteers are needed to do all kinds of things to help with the team, with construction and much more.  Again, Kasim Adams will lead this week and will need many others to assist.  See Kasim for details.

Finally, more resources and PRAY is needed!!!  Please consider donating money to help buy the building supplies needed for us to supply the work teams and what will be done in the next few months.  We have raised more than $10,000 in the last few weeks, and we will need about $30,000 for the needed supplies.  Donations can come in via mail (PO Box 388, Collinsville, VA 24078), bring to church or online at THIS LINK.  Please note your gift for the VISION FUND.  The best and most important thing you can do is to PRAY.  Ask God to prepare this new campus, to provide for the needs we have and for Him to change lives now and in the future.

It is an honor to serve Martinsville and Henry County as well as to the ends of the earth.  We are called to demonstrate the love of God to community through serving meeting needs and sharing Jesus.  The days, weeks and moths ahead are full of opportunities to serve and share!

Please let me know how I can pray for you and your family.  Please step up to serve in the ways I shared above.  Great stuff ahead, and I love each of you.  See you this weekend, and get ready for week 3 of LOVE WINS which is also FATHER'S DAY.  There will be a few surprises, so bring friends and I will see you soon!!!

With GOD as my guide,

Pastor Michael Harrison

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...
