do right from the heart

He did right in the sight of the Lord, yet not with a whole heart.

That verse was written about a king.  He was the leader of people and of the land.  Specifically that king’s name was Amaziah.  The content of that verse said this man had problems.

Far too many people are living that same way.  They are the faithful at church and even serve in ministries as well as do great things, but their hearts, motives and actions are for the wrong reason.  The phrase “not with a whole heart” troubles me greatly.

I believe that God’s desire is to have men and women who are completely sold out to Him.  Our world is in deep desire of real people who really live for God.  These kind of people stop playing games while they are living for God.

Let me make this clear.  I did not say this person dresses right, acts right and is always serious.  The man or women I am speaking of can come from all walks of life and have many different callings.  What is difference about this person is that they seek God first and do that with all their heart.  It is first priority to see to it that God is first in their lives.

Matthew 15:8  NASB
This people honors Me with their lips, But their heart is far away from Me.

We cannot say the right thing and do something different.  That person is a hypocrite.  This could also be the person that tries to cover up their sin.  The issue is the heart, and God knows our hearts. What is real will one day be seen by others because God will reveal it.

God desires to have people serve and worship beginning from their heart and that overflowing with their words and actions.  May our lives be real, be transparent and match in every area as we live and enjoy life.

I believe this person is one who seeks God and allows the Holy Spirit to lead their lives!

If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.

Francesca Battistelli’s song the “Holy Spirit” says this:

No thing can compare.  You're our living hope.  Your presence, Lord, I've tasted and seen Of the sweetest of loves Where my heart becomes free And my shame is undone, Your presence, LordHoly Spirit, You are welcome here

Further, Hillsong’s “Oceans” says:

And I will call upon Your name And keep my eyes above the waves.  When oceans rise My soul will rest in Your embrace For I am Yours and You are mine.  Your grace abounds in deepest waters.  Your sovereign hand Will be my guide.  Where feet may fail and fear surrounds me You've never failed and You won't start now

With a deep relationship with God and allowing the Holy Spirit of God to lead, we will make sure that our lives and our hearts match.  It grieves me big time when I see people playing a game with faith or just being religious.

May our lives be deeply seated in God where our actions and our hearts are fully directed by God so that we are where God shows up and God shows off!

NOTE:

Please pray for our back2school event that is one week away.  Ask God to provide what is needed, prepare the workers and students that will be a part.

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you

why is it Good Friday?

Holy Week is the time we focus on God and His gift of salvation.  We come to Friday.  The day we remember the cross, Jesus’ death and all God has done for you and me   Why do they call this day “Good Friday” because it doesn’t seems good?   Jesus was treated as a criminal.  He was beaten so much that He could not recognize Him.  His pain would have been too much for you or me to endure.  That is especially from Scripture I’ve read or as in the movie the  Passion of the Christ .   Yet it is a good day.  It is Good Friday because God had our good in His heart.  What Jesus did that day changed our forever direction. Here are some thoughts that come to me:   He is Redemption and Redeemer   He too our Pain and Punishment   He is our Righteousness and Reality   He is the Savior and Life   All of those happened from the cross.  It was meant for the worst lawbreakers.  It was not meant for a Savior who never broke a law.  It was lifted high so that onlookers could see the price Jesus.   Look

Day 8 in Cuba

We have just come off and incredible weekend, and it is day 8 of the mission trip in Cuba.  Thank you to all who have been praying for this trip, the mission team and the impact it will have on those we serve.   Please don’t stop praying. Last week Alex and I served with a mission team in the mountains of southern Cuba.  There were several challenges, but God gave us safety, provision and opportunity to serve some of the sweetest people I have ever met.  No running water… sporadic electricity generated by a small, logo dammed up river, no transportation other than animals, limited food sources and more.  These people love the Lord and sharing their faith with others. Over the weekend we made our way back to Havana.  On Friday our vehicle broke down leaving us on the side of the road for several hours.  We then boarded a bus and rode 14 hours.  We arrived safely and even got some rest. Sunday was so, so good.  We visited two partner churches.  In the morning we were with one church that
