GRACE.

Ephesians 2:8-9  NASB
For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.

Grace has many different facets that we learn through the stages of our lives.  First God drew us to Himself to save us.  Then God made us right with him through justification or making us as if we never sinned, and now God continues to mold us and change us through the process of sanctification.  His grace is the act of changing us to be more and more like Jesus.

His grace was real before we could understand that God love loved us.  That means that God pursued us, each of us, before we ever took a step toward Him.

Romans 5:6,8  NASB
For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly… But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

The grace of God is something I cannot get enough of.  The more I think about His grace, the more I understand or think I understand His grace, the more I know that I do not deserve His mercy, compassion and God.  Thus, in God’s pursuit of me and you does some things that no one else can do.

God’s grace is freeing.  We are free from sin and free to live an abundant life.  God’s grace empowers us with spiritual and God kind of strength.  His love is unique and so far above any human affection or conditional love.

It really is God’s love for us that opens the door for His grace to be made real in our lives.  When we realize our life events help us experience God’s grace, we will see the grace of God in brilliant light and share with others.

John 16:13-15  NASB
But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.  He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you.  All things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said that He takes of Mine and will disclose it to you.

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
