10 reasons to trust God

Here are just a few reasons to trust our great God:

Through Christ you have come to trust in God. And you have placed your faith and hope in God because he raised Christ from the dead and gave him great glory.

We can trust God because of the gift of His son, Jesus.  He is our salvation and our hope!

Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor the arrow that flies in the day. Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday. Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you.

We can trust God in the middle of disaster and darkness.  He will hold us and see us through the most difficult of situations.

So Judah defeated Israel on that occasion because they trusted in the Lord, the God of their ancestors.

In the middle of times where I feel unsafe God swoops in to keep those who trust Him safe.  He has shown this many times in the past, and He will do this again in the future.

Psalm 20:7  NIV
Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.

We have no need to trust in anything but God.  Resources, possessions and even other relationships cannot compare to the goodness of our God.

See, God has come to save me. I will trust in him and not be afraid. The Lord God is my strength and my song; he has given me victory.”

He is strong.  He is our victory.  He will surely save us as we trust Him.

neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Nothing can make God love us less.  His love helps us, holds us and heals us.  Being separated from God is a scary thing, but we can trust God who stays with us.

and become one with him. I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ. For God’s way of making us right with himself depends on faith.

He makes us righteous.  The road was opened by God for each of us to walk.  Trusting God rather than our ways gives us more confidence than we get anywhere else!

Even when there was no reason for hope, Abraham kept hoping—believing that he would become the father of many nations. For God had said to him, “That’s how many descendants you will have!”

Examples and testimonies are important.  Abraham hoped in God, and that hope paid off and continues to pray off for Abraham and his decedents.

You can go to bed without fear; you will lie down and sleep soundly. 25 You need not be afraid of sudden disaster or the destruction that comes upon the wicked, 26 for the Lord is your security.  He will keep your foot from being caught in a trap.

Being able to rest, have peace and get through anything is a point for all who trust God.  He is our peace.  Trusting God leads to us having even more peace.  Trusting God keeps us from getting caught in other traps.

But the Lord stood with me and gave me strength so that I might preach the Good News in its entirety for all the Gentiles to hear. And he rescued me from certain death.

Ten reasons to trust God remind me that we are so blessed.  But the problem is many people have nothing to trust in because they do not know our God.  He has rescued us.

May our lives and our testimonies lead others to trust Him!

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...
